MANY YEARS AGO; When both Kyuhyun and Sunmi were four years old.

"Annyeong haseyo! Why are you sat there on your own? Come play!" little Sunmi said as she ran over to the boy sat under a tree. He looked up when she nudged his arm, his eyes shining from confusion.

Kyuhyun watched the girl's lips part and he could not hear the words that was coming out. Why is it that only his parents can communicate with him? Why is he the only one who can't hear among all the people he has met so far in his life?

"Why are you not answering me?" the girl asked with a pout, kneeling next to him.

She watched intently as Kyuhyun pointed to both of his ears while shaking his head. He knew all too well that the girl was going to leave him soon too; no one seemed to what to play with someone who couldn't hear nor speak. His shoulders hunched up slightly, expecting the loneliness to wash over him any time soon.

"You... Can't hear?" Sunmi gasped slightly in shock but then smiled afterwards, standing up from the grass. She didn't see anything wrong with not being able to hear, he's just another boy to her that she could be friends with.

"It's fine! That doesn't mean you can't join us, right?" She grabbed hold of Little Kyuhyun's hand and pulled him along over to the sandpit.

Kyuhyun looked at their entwined hands. He didn't know what was going on but somehow, he didn't feel so isolated anymore.

Hello! (: Just want to say that this is my first fic and it will be in Sunmi's thoughts unless I switch. If I do, I will indicate that clearly. I've never written something like this before nor do I know anyone who is death —I'm only writing a story so don't take anything serious to the heart. I have done research to make this as realistic as possible but if there is anything wrong, then feel free to correct me as I will accept criticism. There will be romance of course but it won't be the fluffy type where everything is fun and light-hearted —Real life issues will appear and prepare for some angst. Kim Sunmi is an OC, therefore she is a fragment of my imagination also. Even though everything is surreal, I still hope it's in a realistic way. (If that even makes sense? Haa) Oh, and one last thing, I haven't planned this story out fully so I'll be having fun improvising!
