Foreword

Light It Up: JongKey story

The sound of ~chu-ching! ~ echoed throughout the store. A light smile drew the attention of almost of all the male shoppers and co-workers. The smile trailed to none other than the one and only Kim Kibum from SHINee. He smiled in excitement for the fact he bought about 8 new outfits. Key absolutely loved shopping. It was his favorite time consumer. He was also excited for the fact he bought his little Taeminnie a new outfit he was sure would look absolutely adorable. He sighed with happiness.

"Thank you, have a nice day~"

The cashier nodded and watched as Key walked away, an almost feminine strut he had. The doors slid open and he felt himself hit into another person. He stumbled back a few inches.

"Oh excuse me! I’m sor-"

A familiar smell then struck his nose, leaving a sour look on his face. His eyes lead to the face of none other than Kim Jonghyun.

"Kibummie!"

Jonghyun wore a bright smile that made Key’s skin crawl. His mind was full of names he was anxious to call him. No one on the planet could get under his skin as much as Jonghyun. Plus, it was their day off, why would he be here? Jonghyun doesn’t shop. A small growl escaped Key’s lips as he got himself up. He dusted himself, then putting his hands on his hips.

"Why are you here, dino-face? And stop calling me Kibummie. It’s only cute when Taemin calls me it."

Jonghyun’s lips formed a pout at the name he was just called. Key was always calling him rude names. He should have been used to it by now but that nickname always makes him insecure. He crossed his arm.

"I saw you when I walked by so I figured I’d share the day with my Kibummie."

Key sighed loudly, picking up his bags. He then gave Jonghyun that, "You’re full of " look.

"Well, that’s unfortunate considering I don’t want to spend the ONE day I get away from YOU with you. Go find Onew or Minho."

Jonghyun shook his head, eyes glued on Key. He didn’t wish to spend today with anyone but Key. Key then passed Jonghyun, brushing him slightly. Jonghyun turned, watching Key’s figure sway. A small smirk creep’s his lips and he put his hands in his pockets, trailing behind Key.

"You know, you could call me Jjong instead of ‘dino-face’. I’d prefer you did."

"Why would I call you that? I much rather call you something that fits your appearance."

Jonghyun couldn’t help but giggle a bit. Key was very rude but that’s what was attractive about him. Other than his looks. Key was candy in Jonghyun’s eyes and he was hungry for more.

"Then why not call me y if you’re going for a look wise nickname?"

Key couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

"Pft! y? Hardly. The only thing that could make YOU y is if you totally reconstructed your face."

"Your words are like daggers, Kibummie. Ouch."

Key smirked a bit. He stopped fast, turning suddenly to Jonghyun, who stopped fast, startled.

"Let’s make a deal, if I start calling you Jjong, you have to stop calling me Kibummie."

Jonghyun put his pointer and thumb on his chin and looked up, thinking. Pass up calling Key the one name he hated more than anything? No go.

"Sorry, can’t accept that."

Key’s smirk went to a dirty look. He narrowed his eyes a bit. What was he planning?

"Why not?"

Jonghyun’s lips formed a devilish smile. He took Key’s chin gently, moving his face a bit closer.

"Then I won’t get to see those cute faces you make every time I call you, Kibummie."

Key smiled warmly, reaching to Jonghyun’s face. Jonghyun was caught off by Key’s sudden change of face. Also, the fact Key was now reaching toward his face. Suddenly Jonghyun couldn’t breathe out of his nose. He snapped out of his slight daze to notice that Key was pinching his nose. He let go of Key’s face and held his nose after Key let go.

"Don’t try to charm a prince. The prince always wins."

Jonghyun watched as Key smirked then turned, walking away. Jonghyun couldn’t help but smirk. He loved a game of hard to get. He then put his hands in his pockets again, having a sort of skip in his walk as he followed Key towards a large building.

*..*

"Kibummie hyung! Jjong hyung! Welcome back!"

The heavy wooden door closed, locking immediately. Key smiled warmly, kicking off his sneakers, and striding to the small kitchen. He placed his bags on the counter and signaled for Taemin to come. Taemin smiled wide.

"You got me something?!"

He almost skipped, standing by Key’s side. Jonghyun finished unlacing his boots and walked to the couch, dropping onto it and grabbing the remote. Key pulled out a small red box with white ribbons tying it closed. Taemin jumped up and down in excitement as he slowly pulled the ribbons apart. He opened the box to see a new outfit. He smiled wide. In the box sat a pair of light blue skinny jeans, a red and black plaid shirt with another shirt under it. The under shirt was blue with a word bubble on it in red. Then on top was a green crochet hat with a large green pomp on the top. Taemin looked at Key for a second before hugging him tightly.

"Thank you Kibummie hyung! Next time we have a debut I’ll wear it."

Key smiled in satisfaction that Taemin really enjoyed his gift. He ruffled Taemin’s hair gently. Jonghyun popped his head over the couch, feeling a sort of pain in his heart. Why does Key smile like that with Taeminnie and not me? I wish Key would smile like that for me… Only once would be okay… He felt a slight blush on his cheeks and he then paused. Wait… What am I thinking?! Have I gone crazy? He shook his head then noticed Key and Taemin looking at him. Key put his hands on his hips.

"What’s wrong? Jealous that Taeminnie got a gift and not you?"

Taemin gave a sad look and approached Jonghyun, putting out his hat.

"You could borrow my hat sometime, Jjong hyung."

Jonghyun shook his head, smiling warmly. He ruffled Taemin’s hair.

"No, thank you Taeminnie. You don’t need to share."

Taemin nodded and smiled in return to Jonghyun’s modesty. Key walked over, putting his arm on Taemin’s shoulder.

"If that’s not it, then what is it?"

Jonghyun leaned back on the couch, placing his hands behind his head.

"Nothing, I was watching Taeminnie’s cute expression."

Key flinched suddenly. He didn’t understand why that comment shot a pain through his heart, but whatever the reason, he didn’t like it. He let go of Taemin and turned, entering the kitchen again, grabbing his bags. Jonghyun expected a smart remark but he looked over to only see Key storm into the bedroom with his bags. Taemin frowned a bit and followed him.

"Kibummie~!"

"What did I say?"

Key threw his bags in the corner. Taemin closed the door behind him and grabbed Key’s sleeve.

"What’s wrong Key hyung?"

Key swatted Taemin off, causing Taemin to stumble back and fall onto his behind. Key then turned quickly, realizing what he did. He knelt down by Taemin.

"Taemin! I didn’t mean it! I’m sorry!"

Taemin frowned a bit at Key.

"Hyung, please tell me what’s wrong."

Key sighed and smiled a bit.

"Nothing gets passed you, does it Tae?"

Taemin shook his head gently, and then sat pretzel style. Key sat next to him.

"When Jonghyun said something about your cute expression a pain shot in my heart. I’m 20 years old, I should know what this feeling is but I didn’t. I didn’t know how to respond and I couldn’t speak so I walked away. I didn’t mean to be rude to you or hurt you Taeminnie."

Taemin smiled wide at Key’s confession. Taemin started to one, feel closer with Key, and two, understand others feelings more. Taemin was someone who loved to learn more about other people. But especially about his hyungs.

"I think I know what it was, Kibummie."

Key, for once, actually looked to Taemin for advice. Taemin giggled evilly.

"Kekeke~ Key hyung was jealous!"

"Jealous?! There’s no way…"

Taemin nodded. He placed his hand on Key’s chest where his heart rested.

"You were feeling jealous that Jjong wasn’t calling you cute."

Key shook his head.

"N-No. Me? Jealous? Doesn’t happen. And to want to be called cute by that dino-face? No way in hell!"

Taemin laughed a bit and put Key’s hand on his heart.

"Key hyung, don’t deny your feelings. It’s bad for you."

Key gave Taemin a sad look then sighed, smiling warmly. He pulled Taemin’s head to him and rubbed the back of the young singers head.

"Thank you Taeminnie."

"Anytime, Kibummie."

The bedroom door opened and Jonghyun jumped from the couch, stumbling a bit.

"Key? Are you alright? What did I say?!"

Key paused for a moment and couldn’t help but laugh at the pitiful Jonghyun. Key walked up to Jonghyun then patted him on the top of his head.

"I’m fine, dino-face. Don’t worry so much. It just makes you look uglier."

A small pout came from Jonghyun’s lips but on the inside, he felt happy knowing Key was feeling better. It worried him to know Key was mad with him. Key then turned and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a sponge. He started to wash the counters.

"You know."

Jonghyun tilted his head slightly as Key spoke.

"You’re not that bad. Looking that is. I guess I could start calling you Jjong. Plus, dino-face is starting to get old."

Jonghyun smiled wide, running to Key, hugging him from behind.

"Kibummie~! You’re the best!"

Key’s face flared up red and he smashed the sponge in Jonghyun’s face, pushing him away.

"I CHANGED MY MIND! DINO-FACE!"

Jonghyun laughed lightly and Key flailed around.

"UGLY! FACE! STUPID JONGHYUN! AIEEE!"
