Poison

Poison

The soft click of the door being opened was followed by the sound of heels tapping against the old wooden floor brought the attention of the detective up to the woman leaning against the doorframe. Her short wavy brown hair resting on her shoulder, her leather coat tied tightly around her waist.

“Come in, no need to linger at the doorway, it’s rude,” the man called out motioning for the woman to come in. Taking a step forward, she walked across the room, but stopped at the small couch to discard her jacket. Sliding it slowly off, it exposed her short red dress which showed most of her thighs, she couldn’t help but to smirk as she started her way back towards the detective. “What’s your name?” He questioned.

“Hyosung,” she replied, dropping down into a lone chair.

“Well, may I offer you a drink, Miss Hyosung?”
“I wouldn’t mind one.” The man moved around the desk towards the small liquor cabinet in the corner.

“On the rocks?” Again he questioned.

“Yes please.” Hyosung was going to reply with short answers, being careful not to expose too many details. Seconds passed before Hyosung heard ice cubes clinking at the bottom of two glasses. It was soon followed by liquid being poured into the cups. The detective made his way over to the woman handing her the glass. “Thank you.”

“So, Miss Hyosung, care to tell me why you are here?” He tilted his head as she brought the strong smelling liquor to her lips, swallowing a small amount.

“It’s simple,” she smirked setting her glass down onto the overcrowded desk, “I am here to return something.”

Hyosung stood closely to the door watching everyone bustle around the club. A smooth voice echoed throughout, the woman on stage quickly glanced towards the brunette standing in the corner. As the dark haired woman went back to singing, another female entered the club. Her messy blond hair pulled back into a bun, her body covered by a tight black dress.

“Good luck, Sunhwa.” Heather chuckled as the young female passed her before grabbing a glass of wine from a lady holding a tray. Sunhwa scanned the room looking for a certain someone, and when her eyes landed on the man with the white dress shirt, a sloppily tied tie, and his hat tilting off, he was leaning carelessly on the half circle couch, surrounded by other men puffing cigars. Sunhwa made her way towards the man, but stopped at the stage where the dark haired woman was singing. Looking down at the blonde, she winked. Sunhwa only smiled before walking over to the man.

“Hey baby, you look bored,” he cooed giving her a suggestive smile. Putting on her best smile, Sunhwa settled herself next to him.

“Shall we have some fun?” She winked before placing her lips against his, kissing him rather roughly. The man shifted his position having the young blonde sit on his lap. Smirking slightly, she moved her lips down his jaw line to his neck.

Hyosung and the dark haired singer couldn’t help but to smirk at their accomplice work her magic. The black haired woman working at the bar was watching closely, her eyes falling on Hyosung who gave her a simple nod. She made her way over to the liquor, which to her advantage overlooked Sunhwa.

Sunhwa slowly pulled down the man’s collar exposing the numbers on the back of his neck. Reading the numbers over and over again, the bartender walked over grabbing a piece of paper, remembering the four easy numbers, “0913,” she repeated as she hurriedly scribbled them down before folding the paper in half and slipping it into the bouquet of flowers for the stage act.

Walking around the counter, the raven haired girl made her way towards the singer, “Great job, Jieun.”She smiled and handed Jieun the bouquet of flowers.

“Thank you, Zinger, I love being the main act,” Jieun smirked before Zinger turned to leave. Turning her attention towards Hyosung, Hyosung smiled and stepped back, accidently running into a man in a khaki colored trench coat. Hyosung stumbled slightly, and noticed something from the man fall out and hit the floor. The man quickly bowed his head, mumbling an apology before wandering off, leaving Hyosung staring at the man before her attention fell down to the floor. There lying on the floor, was an engraved lighter. Bending down she picked it up examining it before slipping it into her pocket.

“What are you returning?” The detective questioned, watching the woman carefully.

“This,” she held out the engraved lighter, smirking at the confused man.

“Where did you get this?”

“You dropped it at the club after we bumped into each other,” she smiled as the man took the lighter and placed it into his coat pocket before walking around his desk, running his fingers over his revolver before picking it up causing the woman to nervously bite her lip.

“This isn’t the only reason why you are here, so spill.”

“I don’t know why I’m doing this, even though I know I shouldn’t. I came here to confess.” She shifted in her seat as the detective placed the gun down in front of Hyosung.

“Don’t play with me Miss, I have a crime to solve,” he growled leaning against his desk in front of her.

Zinger and Jieun waited for the other two women to show up at the vault. They needed to hurry up and get this done before something happened. Zinger continued pacing back and forward, her hands running through her tangled black hair.

“Zinger, calm down, everyone is fine.” Jieun whispered, tightening her grip on the paper in her hand.

“Hey ladies,” a man’s voice rang out, causing both women to stumble backwards. Two men were standing there with Sunhwa in the middle; a single gun was pointed at her head and tears beginning to stain her cheeks. “You all have been naughty. Stealing another person’s property isn’t nice,” he spat, his voice filled with venom.

A door was kicked open and the man shifted his gun towards the door but another gun was fired off quickly and the man dropped to the floor. As fast as the first, another gun shot went off, letting the other man fall lifelessly onto the floor.

“Hyosung…” Sunhwa cried out rushing to her partners’ side. Turning her back, Jieun quickly punched in the numbers of the vault to have the metal bars unlock. Still watching behind them, the women entered the room and headed straight for the safe in the back.

“Work your magic Jieun,” Zinger ordered, and watched the dark haired woman spin the dial until it clicked. Smirking, the woman pulled the safe open exposing three large diamonds. Excitement swept through the women, quickly taking the gems, they ran.

Hyosung stood up, looking at detective, “I have the diamonds…” He looked her over but Hyosung approached him. Resting a hand on his shoulder, she gently kissed him. Distracted from the kiss Hyosung managed to drop a tablet of poison into his liquor and slowly pulled back from him.

“You did commit the crime…” He was dumbfounded, “why?”

“I wanted to-, I mean, we wanted to commit the perfect crime,” Hyosung chuckled, turning away from the man to retrieve her coat.

“Who are your accomplices?” He demanded, but Hyosung kept walking.

“You’re a person whom I can’t even bargain with, and it’s already too late…” She chuckled, stepping out of the room. Confused and frustrated at the woman’s actions, the detective picked up his drink and took a much needed swallow.
