New Shop On The Block

Description

Jinki is a 24-year-old living alone in a small apartment right on the edge of Seoul. He has a job at a very successful cafe, and although he enjoys it, he spends all of his freetime composing music. He eats, sleeps, and breathes music. Unfortunately, due to a family tragedy, he had to drop out of SM Entertainment and was never able to finish his training. He has been working on his own music ever since. He purposefully walks the 3 miles to and from work every day because that's when he gets his best ideas for whatever piece he's currently working on. It's on this walk one day that he notices a small music shop just opened. Of course he just HAS to go in...

Foreword

Jinki heard a clear, happy ringing sound as he stepped into the store. He looked back and smiled at the touch of adding an old-school door bell to a brand new shop. He then looked around to survey this unfamiliar territory. He noticed the headphones first, remembering his were getting pretty beat up. Just as he walked up to them and picked up a pair, he heard,

"Hey how's it going?"

He turned and saw a brown-haired guy with a wide smile walking toward him with his hands in his pockets. Jinki smiled back at him,

"Not bad. Did you just open the store? I haven't seen it around before."

"Yeah, today's our fourth day." As Jinki watched the man talk, he began to notice just how plump his lips were. "It's been pretty good so far." The brown-haired boy smiled again, this time making Jinki realize he was probably the kind of man girls swooned over.

"That's good.." Jinki really couldn't think of anything else to say, but he didn't want to stop talking to him, "I'm Jinki." He flashed him his best smile. He faltered just slightly, noticing the man's smile tilt slightly into a smirk.

"Well it's nice to meet you, Jinki-ssi. I'm Jonghyun."

The two shook hands, and Jonghyun asked if there was anything Jinki was looking for in particular. Jinki then explained in detail about how long he's had his headphones. The two clicked really well, and before Jinki knew it, thirty minutes had passed, and they weren't talking about merchandise at all..

"So this morning I think I finally figured out what it's missing. I'll have to test out the new progression when I.." Jinki suddenly realized he has been talking this stranger's ear off for quite a while now. With his face now getting hot, he chuckled nervously and added, "Yeah I probably should get home.. Sorry I didn't mean to take up your time, Jonghyun-ssi.." Jonghyun laughed and shook his head.

"No, don't worry about it. This is the most fun I've had all day." Jinki felt something inside of him buzz a little bit. He smiled, relieved, but he still didn't want to bother this man any longer. He put the headphones he had been holding back on the shelf and smiled at Jonghyun again,

"Thanks." Jonghyun smiled in response and brushed his bangs away from his eyes. Jinki turned and walked to the door, just as he opened it and heard the bell ring once again, he also heard Jonghyun calling his name,

"You should come in tomorrow." Jonghyun gestured toward the headphones. "We're getting some new stuff in, and I think you'd like it."

Jinki's smile widened more than it had in a long time.
