     Chapter One     Telephone line

I've been away from you for far too long, too much absence makes the heart go frantic. I wanna tell you what's been going on, Operator, please don't answer my call.

Anyone whose goal is something higher must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What's vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is more than fear of falling. It's the voice of the emptiness below us which temps and seduces us, is the desire to fall, against which we, terrified, defend ourselves.

Jiyong grabs his cup of coffee and drink it with pacience.

Four years ago

"Please! Give it up for the rapper G-Dragon!" A black man with thick body and strong look shouted with a microphone in hand. The man next to him only smiled shyly and bow to the public that were in that private party. For G-Dragon everything happened so fast, he had gone from being a simple high school student to a rookie rapper. He had always dreamed of it but he never imagined, even in his best hopes, it would become reality. Everyone had told him not to dream, that's never going to happen. But there he was, standing in front of an audience clamoring his name, and they were there because they wanted to hear him rap. He had shown that neither the sky was the limit for his dreams. "Thank you" He said in a whisper, but people began to shout louder. G-Dragon said goodbye and went down calmly from the stage, being greeted by all his friends. "You did really great!" "I didn't know you could rap that well." "You looked so handsome on stage!" Those were some of many compliments he received as he went to the VIP area to change his clothes. When he turned right down the long corridor, he bumped with a woman but she just gave a soft 'sorry' and ran away. He looked over at the girl left terrified and wondered who would she be.  Some time later, he headed out to take a drink from the bar, but a woman, with great speed, sat in the seat he was going to take. And he found it was the same girl he had bumped minutes ago. The woman ordered a drink and started pounding the table with her nails, until she felt the presence behind her. He wanted an apology, after all she was the one who had no manners. She just wanted to taker her damn drink and avoid the person who was behind her. But she couldn't just do that, she couldn't run or hide. When the woman turned around and looked at him in the eyes with guilt, his heart started pounding. It was a strange feeling he had never fel before. "I'm sorry, were you going to sit here?" She asked with some fear, she wondered if the man infront of her was one of those who were aggressive when they drink. The woman get slightly surprised to see the man smile tenderly. She thought he looked really cute when he smiled. He smiled. "Don't worry, it's ok" Luckily for him, a seat that was beside the woman was available so he sat on it. The woman began to play around with her hair, why this man made her feel so nervous when she don't even know him? The bartender came and put the drink in front of her, she took the glass and drank all of it. She found the man at her side holding a glass of whisky in his left hand. She couldn't stand the silence. "Uhm, Hi! I'm Chaerin" She said with a little discomfort in her voice and the man turned his face until he could see her better. "My name is Jiyong, nice to meet you" He introduce himself gallantly and Chaerin smiled back. "It's nice to meet you too, are you from here?" He didn't take importance to the conversation they shared that night, she was only one person who he could talk comfortably. But he didn't know, in that short moment, his life would change. For better or worse.   NOW  I don't know if it was me or everything had become so boring. Singing, rapping, standing on stage, giving interviews and appearing on television was not so nice anymore, I could even say that it bored me. I don't know when or how it started, but when I met my now wife my life changed completely. I remember the first time I saw her, I was 23 years old and she 21. Chaerin was a novice fashion designer, she was always so elegant and had a beautiful blond hair. Her smile was so mesmerizing and the way she talked was so hipnotizing. I loved it. When my eyes met hers the first time I could feel something, something I can't explain. I just knew that I wanted to have her in my life, and that thought made me very happy. That was 4 years ago and now my wife is a renowned fashion designer, I'm a consolidate rapper around the country, we got married 3 years ago and have a beautiful daughter of 2 years old. We live in New York currently in a big mansion far from the city. I had everything. Money, love, fame, friendship, health. Everything... So why do I feel so boring? "Jiyong!" A female voice came into the dressing room where I was concentrated writing in a notebook. I heard it, I really did, but I didn't take the trouble to look up, she knew that when I was concentrating on writing a song I don't like interruptions. She coughed and I looked up, really trying not to roll my eyes. "What are you doing here?" I asked, forcing a smile, I didn't like the woman in front of me at all but I had to stand her, after all she's the best friend of my wife. She smiled and I wanted her to leave me alone. "Your wife" She took two more steps and sat on the couch infront of me. I kept silent and she raised an eyebrow. "Are you not going to ask me anything?" She raised her voice a little and I gave her a smug look, trying to let her know that I was too important to spend my voice in someone like her. She apparently got the message, and rolled her eyes. "She wants to know why you're not going home anymore" My eyes became more intense for a moment, but I calmed down. Then I smiled slyly. "Why would I have to answer you that? She should be here instead of you, Bom" I saw that she was dying to replicate but nevertheless she took a deep breath and I swear that in her mind she was counting to ten. Well, this is going to be fun. "I only came because she asked me, Jiyong. Besides, you're not answering her calls" Bom said crossing her legs and showed me one of her most attractive smiles. I don't know how long I'll stand this. "You fought, didn't you?" She stared at me after a few seconds of silence, and I got surprised. Women with their sixth sense. I looked down and concentrated again in my book, I did a squiggle on it with a pen. "I know I shouldn't meddle in this..." Good thing you have that clear, I thought. "But Chaerin is very sad, Jiyong. I know you're not the perfect couple but, at least try it for your daughter. She's not to blame for any mistakes that you both commit and-" I pressed the pen with more force than necessary to the point of breaking it, and that stopped Bom for anything that she was going to say, totally surprised. "Listen to me, Bom" I started saying with a low voice leaning towards her, and I swore I looked fear in her eyes. "Because I'll say it only once. You're getting on my nerves, so it's better for you if you stop being damn nosy because you DON'T want to see me upset, do you? Remember what happened to you before, or do you want me to remind you?"  Bom looked at me hurt. "Wh-what are you trying to say? Are you going to-" She got interrumped when my phone started ringing. We both looked who was calling, I smiled with arrogance. "Jiyong, I'm sorry. I just want Cha
