You're right

Live your Life

I came to class early to take some notes. You could call me a nerd, but I would say the term hard worker fits better. I got good grades, but perfect ones? Not necessarily. At any rate I was determined on making an A on the upcoming test.

“Hey look, it’s that cute sophomore.” My friend said nudging me as I took notes. I knew this guy. He was younger than me, but that didn’t stop the people around me from noticing him as well. He was known for his dazzling smile, flawless dance skill, and of course who could forget how vocally gifted he was. I smiled at the sight of his laughter. I was curious about this kid. He was of course very handsome.

A couple of our friends overlapped but I never actually talked to him. Suga and Jin's dongsaeng, Jungkook, was who I was talking about.

“You should go talk to him. I mean I’m sure Jin and Suga wouldn’t mind introducing you.” my friend, Nina added.

“No time… plus I don’t really know what I would say to him anyways.” I muttered, going back down to writing my notes.

“Ugh… Yooni, I love you and all but this is also the reason why you can’t get your parents to accept the fact that you are dancing.” Nina stated. I stared and her and pouted.

“What the fact that I don’t know what to say or the fact that I’m trying to be a good student?” I remarked, sarcastically. She sighed and frowned at me. I understood completely what she meant but I really didn’t want to have this conversation right now.

“You know what I mean, Yooni.” She urged on. I sighed at her and nodded.

“Look Nina, it’s not as simple as just telling them that I like dancing and that I’ve been doing it behind their backs. It’s business. It just doesn’t look right if the vice president’s daughter is some hip hop dancer.” I muttered, feeling my heart wrench at the thought.

“Well at some point you’re either going to have to give it up or be real to yourself.” She commented. I nodded and went back to studying. Maybe that’s a little of the reason why I took notice of Jungkook. He danced, freely and openly. I always wondered what that must feel like.  Nina started to chuckle.

“Why are you laughing?” I questioned. She shrugged and pointed at me.

“By the way that you are staring at Jungkook you might burn hole in to his head.” She teased. I smiled and rolled my eyes at her and went straight back to doing my work.

[Lunch]

Usually, I ate with Nina and a few kids from our study group. But since midterms were coming up, the study group has been skipping lunch and heading to the library. I was dedicated to my studies, but food was food. There was no way I was missing out on my meal.

“It’s lonely with out the amigos,” Nina commented. I nodded

“Yeah, but I’m not skipping meals to study…” I added. She nodded agreeing.

“Hey Yooni,” A voice called. I looked up and saw Jin waving happily.

“Oh hey Jin, what’s up?” I asked. He smiled and shrugged.

“Not much, do you mind if with sit with you guys today? All the tables are full and we want to sit together.” He asked. I raised my eyebrows at him.

“By we you mean…”

“The guys of course!” he exclaimed as BTS appeared behind him.

“Sit down! Sit down!” Nina urged smiling at the group. I sighed and shrugged.

“You’re lucky you’re my friend…” I muttered eating a spoonful of rice. Jin chuckled and took a seat.

“Psh… you know you love us…” Suga commented as he took a seat next to me. I shoved him lightly and continued eating my food. Jin and Suga introduced all their friends of course my eyes lingering on Jungkook just a little longer. “How is our number 1 nerd doing on midterms?” Suga teased. I glared at him and looked down at my food.

“I’m working on it… I need to work hard.” I muttered, feeling the stress build slowly.

“You shouldn’t stress out so much, noona. You always get awesome grades!” Jungkook assured me with a smile. I could feel my face heat up but I nodded nonetheless.

“Plus, if you fail we could always form a duo miming group!” V said with enthusiasm. I couldn’t help but laugh at his goofiness.

“Okay, V if I fail we could definitely do that...” I replied with a thumbs up.

“Or we could form a dancing duo!” Jungkook piped in. My eyes widened and I chuckled awkwardly.

“Uhh yeah, we could do that too!” I told him, smiling. Nina nudged me under my ribs.

“Psh way to be natural…”She whispered. I bit my lip and put my utensils down.

“You know what? I have somewhere else to be.” I said, picking up my stuff.

“Where are you going?” Jin questioned, with a worried tone to his voice.

“Yeah shorty, you never skip meals.” Suga added. I shrugged them off and continued to leave the table. Call me a baby, sensitive, or whatever, but I really just needed some time to think. Nina was right.

How long was I going to hide this from everyone?

I walked to the school studios. I passed by here once or twice. I never danced at school because I feared my classmates would give me away. Today, the curiosity got to me. I tip toed in to one of the empty studios and the lights.

I stared at my reflection almost as if it was foreign.

This is where I belong. Dancing. But how can I live life knowing my parents can’t stand me? I wondered slowly falling down to my knees.

Ugh… why is this so difficult?

“Umm noona what are you doing?” A voice questioned right next to me. I had been so fixated in my thoughts and my reflection I didn’t notice someone coming in the room.

“J-jungkook…umm nothing, I uhh… what are you doing here?” I asked, still surprised by him.

“I just want to apologize… for bothering you or… well.” He replied, rubbing the back of his neck looking away from me. I couldn’t help but smile at how he was acting.

Cute.

“Don’t worry about it… You didn’t do anything Im just feeling all the stress from midterms.” I told him. He chuckled and sat down next to me.

“So why are you here? I mean you never come around here not even when bangtan practices together.” He questioned. I shrugged and stared at our reflections in the mirror.

“Can I be honest with you Jungkook?” I questioned. He turned to face me curiously, but nodded.

“I’ve been dancing in secret for the past couple of years. I started dancing when I was a kid but when my parents found out I had an interest in hip hop they refused to let me dance. It’s just getting a little difficult.” I confessed looking down at the ground. Jungkook then looked at me with a surprised expression.

“Wow noona you dance! They should call you the golden noona.” He exclaimed. I bit my lip and shook my head.

“Not the point Jungkook.” I muttered. Though it had just been a few moments ago that we "met", I felt the chemistry between us.

“Oh right!…well you should be yourself noona. I mean that is the easiest way to life your life. In the end, you’re the one that’s going to live your life right?” He suggested. I looked up at his face and nodded. He had a point.

Still cute...

“You’re right… thanks Kookie…” I thanked him, pulling him in for a sideways hug.

“Umm…well I-I’m here when y-you n-need me.” He replied. I got up and grabbed my stuff.

“Well it’s almost time for class. We should get going.” I told him. He nodded at me not meeting my gaze.

Hmm… strange.

[Later that night]

Dinner was silent as we ate. My dad was going over some reports and my mom was planning meetings. I kept thinking about how I was going to tell them.

“Umm… mom, dad.” I started.

“Hmm…” They both muttered in a chorus.

“I… am still dancing. I’m still going to keep dancing.” I confessed closing my eyes, getting ready for what they would say.

“Well if it’s ballet, it's okay.” My mom answered, finally looking up at me.

“It’s hip hop.” I replied, taking a deep breath trying to find my bravery.

“No, how many times have I told you. Hip hop is not lady like or image friendly.” My mother stated. My father had yet to look up from his reports.

“Well, it doesn’t matter. I have been doing it in secret. I’m going to keep doing it whether or not you like it.” I argued.

“Not if I have anything to say about it!” my mother, urged on.

“Well I always do what you want, I keep my grades up. I take extra curricular activities approved by you. I just want to start living a life that I want to. Please, let me make my own decisions!” I rebutted.

“Yooni! I told y-…” my mom started.

“Stop!” my father finally spoke. We both stopped and looked towards my dad.

“Yooni will dance. We will let her make her own choices.” My father stated simply, eyeing the both of us.

“Honey, but what about what we said earlier? This could be bad for our image.” My mother questioned.

“It could but Yooni is her own person. Plus, if we keep forcing her in to doing what we want her to she might rebel to rebel. In that case she would be a real threat to our image. Plus, Yooni is a young adult. It is time we let her act like it. Have you seen what the president has to deal with? His drunken, party driven daughter. I prefer Yooni to dance than to become like that.” He said. My mother nodded as if suddenly understanding the situation. I felt my heart welling up with emotions.

“Thank you dad! Thank you!” I exclaimed running up to hug him.

“Don’t take this freedom for granted, Yooni. Remember to own up to your decisions.” He urged. I nodded and continued eating my dinner.

[The next day]

“Nina nina nina! I did it!” I yelled down the hall after finishing my last midterm exam.

“Did what? Make straight A’s again?” She joked. I shoved her lightly and shook my head.

“No silly! I told my parents and I’m going to dance hip hop now!” I explained, still incredibly happy.

“Are you serious! That’s great!.. well since you can dance now. Bangtan should be in the studio now. Why don’t we go see them?” she suggested winking at me. I knew what she meant by that wink. She wanted me to go see Jungkook.

“okay… lets go!”

[At the studio]

I sat there in awe as I watched the guys dance. All of these corny dorks actually had some swagger. Then I looked at Jungkook in his full dancing glory. I don’t know what kind of sorcery this was but as I watched him dance my heart would skip a beat.

Wow he’s incredible.

“Close your mouth Yooni, you’re going to flood the floor.” Nina teased. I crinkled my nose and tried to hide the blush on my face. Once the dance was over the guys stopped and did a combination of running for water or collapsing on the ground.

“Go on Yooni… go talk to your prince charming.” Nina said, pushing me further on the floor.

“Noona?” Jimin called out. I waved at them and smiled.

“Hello….”I replied, awkwardly standing there.

“Wow… what brings our nerd out of the books.” Suga questioned. I kicked his leg leaving him crouching in pain. Jin came and put his arm around my shoulder.

“Nice to see you here shorty.” He said bringing me towards the guys.

“I thought I’d come and see what the fuss was all about. I didn’t know the princess could dance.” I joked.

“Ohh….noona has jokes!” Rap mon exclaimed leaving the guys in a fit of laughter.

“If we knew you were coming we would have tried harder.” J hope winked, flirting. I merely chuckled not knowing what to say.

“No we wouldn’t!” Suga shouted still on the floor.

“Hey hyung, could I borrow noona for a moment? She owes me a dance.” Jungkook called from behind us.

“Ohhh,” everyone called.

“If I didn’t know better I would say you’re jealous!” V called him out. Jungkook didn’t say anything rather he dragged me back to a computer to choose out a song.

“So I owe you a dance?” I questioned. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked down.

“Well maybe I just wanted to dance with you.” He confessed. I smiled and shrugged. The more I got to know Jungkook the more I was charmed by him.

Maybe it wasn’t just his dancing that I liked…maybe it was him?

“Well since everything worked out maybe I could do that for you.” I replied. He pulled me out to the dance floor and we freestyled a hip hop dance.

“Wow maknae you work fast! First you tell us you want to meet her and now you’re already dancing with her?” Jin called out. Jungkook immediately covered his face. I couldn’t understand the situation, but I giggled at his reaction.

“Well… we should dance some more some time?” I questioned as the music died down. “Thanks for everything, Kookie,” I went up to him and kissed him on the cheek. I heard tons of wolf calls and my friend yelling her praises.

“um.. noona!” He called just as I was turning to leave.

“hmm?”

“How about we go on a date some time?” He questioned, with a twinkle in his eye and a bright smile on his face.

How could anyone say no to that?

“I’d definitely like that.”

So I know I haven't updated the Chanyeol story. Idk I just am not very satisfied with the story is all. I don't have any time to go and fix it either so I guess I will have to put it on haitus and come back to it. I just want to make quality work, yknow? Anyways, for people who love my one shots, there is a Luhan one shot in the works so keep a look out for that. It's nice to write again. It has seriously been a while!

Please leave feedback and comments. I might just do all the other Bangtan members if this goes well. ^^;
