Living in the city was no joke. 17 years of surivial is pure judgement of that. Being mixed doesn't help much anyway. 

As I went into class, I put my skateboard into my locker and closed it with my earphones still playing music, my head nodding to the familar thumping of Paramore's drums. 

I opened my blue binder that I had since the 8th grade, full of pictures of me and my best friend Bobby. I smiled at the familiar memories before snapping out of it, remembering I had some intense calc homework to review.  My foot and my pen tapped along to the beat as my favorite Paramore song began to play. "Been through the wringer a couple times / I came out callous and cruel / And my two friends know this very well / Because they went through it too..."

The next thing I knew, I could hear the rustling and prepartions of the other students in my class. Bobby....

"Yah, do you feel like dying today?" I looked up at him as he gave me his classic eye smile and goofy grin.

"Hailey-ssi won't help you pass the calculus test, won't she?" He stuffed my beloved cell phone in his bookbag and sent me a michevious wink. I couldn't help buy groan in frustration. Goddamnit Bobby... Sighing in frustration, I continued my studies before the teacher called class to order. 

"Alright class, we have a new student entering the class this year..." I sent my friend a questionable look then looked forward. "His name seems to be... Kim Namjoon...?" I didn't know how to react, I quickly put my bookbag in the open seat next to me. I'm not exactly a "people person" so socializing isn's exactly my thing. 

I looked forward, clearly uninterested as the person of the hour came into the room. At least he has a bit of a fashion sense...  I zoned out towards the end until my name was mentioned. "You can sit next to Elana." Greeeaaaat. Goddamn teachers... I put my bookbag by my side of the desk and leaned on the other side of the shared table. He sat down quietly and and I felt my eyes on me. I shot him a quick glance and he looked down at the grey and black design on the desk as if the best thing since sliced bread. I chuckled lowly and sat up as the calc test was passed around.

Time to kick some calculus .
