Description

prologue

It was the first day of middle school when I first met Jeon Jungkook.

He sat in front of me in every single class and would always make a habit of borrowing my pens and never giving them back. But it was okay, since the missing pens would magically appear in the front pocket of my school bag at the end of the day.

Jungkook and I had our first real conversation when we were partnered up for a science fair project. We came last and we could care less—it was the beginning of a new friendship.

The second year of middle school I introduced my parents to Jungkook and he introduced me to his parents. We would sneak out after curfew to the local bakery to eat the left over cake and pastries. We did this for a month until the owner of the bakery told our parents. We both were grounded for what felt like a year and Jungkook declared me as his best friend. It made me happy.

We were in different classes in the last year of middle school. We talked more and more than we did the other years surprisingly. When high school entrance exams came it still didn’t change. We were thrilled when we were both accepted into the same high school as each other.

When high school came, Jungkook became immediately popular and made friends easy. I made friends too, only a handful since many girls would always try to use me as a way to get to Jungkook. They don’t anymore thank god. I never liked the way they would hover around him; always trying to get his attention. That year, Jungkook had his first ever girlfriend. Her name was Minah or something—they didn’t last long, maybe a month or two before she broke it off because she was moving to the other side of the country. Jungkook didn’t experience heart break until his third girlfriend had cheated on him.

That year I realised I was in love with my best friend.
