Back To The Past

Description

"We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find

someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with

them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—

true love."
— Robert Fulghum (True Love)

Foreword

There are a lot of things that Jiyong should be doing now. Like surfing at the moon, or even dating intergalactic girls at Venus, or even drinking diamond shakes at Jupiter or just hang out at the Galactica with his friends. But that’s the thing - he won’t be able to do those things, at least, not for the next 100 days, which is a complete arzonian crap.

It’s not his fault that Sohee, one of the girls he hangs out with got the idea that he would be tying the knot and exchange vows of eternity with her, so when her parents hounded him and demanded that he marries Sohee, he declared Prostia. Well, to put it lightly, Sohee’s parents went Grabian mad and demanded to the council that he should be punished for taking away Sohee’s so-called purity.

He scoffed at this remark, well who wouldn’t? Sohee stopped being pure at the age of 14. However, things never went his way, because his Dad, the head of the council can’t even do anything to help him out. Which is really unfair, the only girls he hangs out with are girls similar to Sohee.

So now, he is sent back to the past, where he has to rethink his ways. His mom couldn’t even help him this time which is totally unfair.

To ensure that he won’t teleport himself into hiding, he is now in a holding cell where he is being watched over by a Xytopic, an alien that has eyes all over his body and rumor has it that a xytopic even has eyes on its 4 mouths. His door opened and his parents entered the room with a weird box that has small wheels and a weird rod.

“What the arzonian crap is that?”

“This is what they call bag, isn’t it fascinating?” His mother gushed. Traitor. She shouldn’t even act like this. She should be begging his father that they shouldn’t send him anywhere. He isn’t even at fault here. “Our ancestors used bags to carry their things before, they didn’t have Vyler’s like us.”

The horror! “What do you mean, don’t have Vyler’s? How would I change clothes??” I stared at my dad filled with horror and revulsion. Why did he agree to this?

“Dad . . . did you hear what Mom just said? They don’t have Vylers! Vyler’s.”  Are they kidding me, they are sending me back to the past where technology is . . . bereft. Even planet Belerophon is much better than sending me back to the past.

“Son, my hands are tied. Sohee’s parent’s presented a good case. I have no choice. You’re lucky I was able to bargain to send you to the 21st century. The Ahn’s were planning to send you back to the 13th century.”

13th . . . century? What the Yeri? I’ve studied the past well enough to know that technology or even electricity in that century is basically nonexistent. “Dad, you have to help me. Don’t let me stay in 21st century. Please, I swear, I’ll do my duties now, I’ll even join the Frotian army, I’ll even join the front lines. Just don’t send me there.”

My dad looked at me filled with pity, normally I would get mad, but I don’t care right now. “Son, I’ll do my best to cut your punishment. Just do your assignment there properly and hopefully, before 100 days you’d be back here.”

My mom started crying, and I knew that I’m in deep, very deep arzonian . The door opened again, and Captain Xeno, one of my dad’s friends entered the room, he is also my godfather, he bowed down to my parents and looked at me with pity.

“Jiyong, it’s time.”

My parents each hugged me, which is a complete surprise, since open skinship in public is deemed inappropriate, I hugged them back. “Don’t cause too much trouble there, okay? I love you son.” My Dad whispered in my ears.

And with that, I joined Captain Xeno in the wormwhole and braced myself.

I can feel my molecules disintegrating slowly and when I opened my eyes I was in white room with a window. I felt despair mounting. I looked around the place and I just know that I won’t survive.

“Welcome to 2009.” I said to myself.
