Death Toll

Description

A fanfiction following the genre of the manga Doubt, the series Saw and the game DanganronpaThe Death Toll was the new fad in game history beating its predecessor fads like Temple Run, Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds. After the Bristol Massacre, the governments around the world banned the game. It made matters worse. Every month, there was a new massacre. The pattern was the same: the victims had received a text, met at some place, were kidnapped, and were imprisoned in an abandoned place. Only at the end of the countdown, the police was contacted to save the remaining ones and to take the corpses. August 2013, the chosen city is Seoul, South Korea. 29 people were selected this time.

Foreword

There was Tap Tap.
There was Fruit Ninja.
There was Angry Birds.
There was Temple Run.
Many games have preceded that one game to rule them all. All those games had once been downloaded on iPods, cellphones, and more.

From the Crazy Rabbit, came the one game...Death Toll. It was an instant hit. Teenagers and young adults loved it. Death Toll was reminiscent of Danganronpa, Saw, Doubt and all those games, movies and series within the survival horror genre. It was easy to play.

  1. You received a message and you were invited in a round with people from around the world or your cirlce of friends.

  2. You did your best to survive until the end of the countdown. Some rounds would be five minutes others could last hours.

It was just a simple survival game. You were in an abandoned site, and you did your best not to get killed by other players, or to avoided the traps, or to run away from animals and other enemies. 'You' would be tattooed with the crest of the game and a QR code. With this code, once scanned, you could access any rooms and you could get locked items.

Then, one day, everything changed.

On November 1st 2012, in an abandoned warehouse, in Bristol (United Kingdom), 12 people were found dead, and 3 people were found alive with severe injuries. The police had been anonymously contacted, before they fell on the gruesome discovery. Everyone who had played the game understood what was going on when the chief inspector mentioned that "a winged skull and a QR code was tattooed on the victims". What the hell was going on? Why would people play the game for real? It did not stop the craze over Death Toll, it multiplied it. People who did not touch the game, started to play it. The game had become viral.

In the following months, other incidents like the Bristol Massacre happened across the world. Victims received a text, met at some place, were kidnapped, and were imprisoned in an abandoned place. Every time, they were sent a text message.

In an attempt to stop the series of murders, the authorities decided unanimously to ban the game. It only made matters worse...

Seoul, South Korea. The mastermind behind the game decided to go one step forward with a bigger selection. 28 unlucky ones. It was going to be the worst blood bath since the New York City Round with 16 deaths and 2 injuries...

Words from the author

Hello folks. I'm Ema (deadmistress)~ I know it is going to be a big cast of characters (29 people, my original cast was constituted of 51, the second cast, 30). Maybe I am being too ambitious for a first publish fanfiction here, but I don't know how to cut the cast. I'll make sure that all of them will get some good screen reading time until the end. Many will die. Here is the official full cast:

  • Ailee
  • CL (2NE1)
  • Doojoon (Beast)
  • Eli (U-KISS)
  • Eunji (Global Icon)
  • Gayoon (4minute)
  • Hoya (Infinite)
  • Hyuna (4minute)
  • J-Da (EvoL)
  • J-Hope (BTS)
  • Jia (miss A)
  • Jimin (BTS)
  • Jiyoon (4minute)
  • Jonghyun (SHINee)
  • Jongup (B.A.P)
  • Joon (MBLAQ)
  • Key (SHINee)
  • Kikwang (Beast)
  • Krystal (f(x))
  • L (Infinite)
  • Leo (VIXX)
  • Miryo (Brown Eyed Girls)
  • Say (EvoL)
  • Seungho (MBLAQ)
  • Soyu (SISTAR)
  • Taeyang (Big Bang)
  • Tao (EXO-M)
  • U-Kwon (Block B)
  • Yongguk (B.A.P)

Of course, I would love you to attach yourself to one (or a few or many) of them, but I just want you to remember that they could die until the end of the story. Once the police find them, rejoice, because the survivors live~.

Notes:

  1. I'm going to write in a different way than a typical normal narrative paragraph way. I want it to feel "interactif" and "present pace". Some chapters will be 'mature'.
  2. French is my first language. Bare with me and my mistakes orz.
