Kibum looked at Jonghyun, sure of what would happen next.

His composure would be broken, only to be replaced by that toothy grin- like the sun bursting out from behind a wall of grey.  His eyebrows would raise in that cocky manner of his.  His eyes would crinkle ever so slightly, turning up at the corners.  He would laugh, even, the melodic sound of it enticing and alluring those around him.  He might hug Key, nudge him playfully, maybe even grab his hand.  

So what did happen made his heart plummet to his stomach.

Jonghyun's mouth turned down at the corners, pursing his lips.  His brow furrowed, and his eyes narrowed slightly.  His shoulders stiffened, and the rest of his body seemed to tense.  There was no twinkle in his eye, no signal that his face might be on the verge of breaking into a joyful expression.  He looked as though he was thinking hard about what he was about to say.  

Even before they were out of his mouth, Kibum wanted to run.  To hide.  To escape the harshness of those gentle words.  

"I'm sorry, Kibum."

Key was not aware of his legs giving out, or his head hitting the ground with a loud crack.  All he knew was his eyes closing, engulfing his vision in the same darkness his heart had been pitched into.
