Jonghyun's POV

Sometimes I wondered if she knew. Of course Jess knew almost everything about me but there were some things I'd miracuously had kept hidden from my best friend. Like the fact that I was in love with her.

No one knew, I'd made sure of that. Well, the boys knew but that was only because the five of us were like brothers and were with each other 24/7. They knew well enough that I would kill the poor soul that open their mouth to Jess about how I felt towards her so they all kept quiet. But when it was just the five of us goofing around, they'd pick on me. Even Taemin, our maknae, but I let them. Sometimes it made me feel a little better about having a crush on Jess if the boys knew. I could trust them.

It was at moments like now, however, that I was afraid she could tell that I was crushing on her big time. She and the 8 other members of Girls' Generation were on stage now, preforming 'Genie', their latest hit. From the moment the song had been released, I had memorized any part that involved Jessica so I would know where she sang or danced or anything where she was the center of my attention. Of course I payed attention to the other girls as well but they couldn't catch my attention like Jess could.

Minho elbowed my side and I looked to my right, seeing him grinning at me. "You've got it so bad for her, hyung." He chuckled, shaking his head. "You should really just tell her, before you have to wait any longer or before someone else snatches her up." Minho said seriously.

Someone taking Jessica away from me? I would never allow it. Most of the boys in the music and entertainment industry stayed away from her because they assumed I was like her big brother. But little did they know that I would kill any one of them that looked at her the wrong way.

"Why? Is someone interested in her? Minho, I swear to God if you start liking her--" I began ranting to him quietly, thankful that 'Genie' was thumping through the speakers so no one could hear me threatening my best friend.

Minho rolled his eyes. "No, hyung. I respect my life too much. But there are some other guys who aren't so aware of your closeness to Jessica."

Dammit. I hated when he was right. I'd thought of what he'd said before but I couldn't bring myself to Jess how I really felt, for fear that she wouldn't feel the same. Then the friendship we'd had for so long would be ruined. I was the person she talked to when the girls couldn't. I was her shoulder to cry on. Anyone that hurt her was going to get hurt by yours truly.

My eyes found their way back to the stage just as Jess sang again, finising up the song with Taeyeon in the very front. Jessica must've found me in the crowd because she sent a wink my way before the song ended.

She was my genie.
