For centuries it has been a tradition for the child of a noble to receive a Noye, a slave, as their coming of age present for their 21st birthday. Although it is only Han Mihyun's 16th birthday, her father has deemed it appropriate to grant her with the one thing she dreads the most, a Noye. Mihyun has lived her life categorizing everything she has ever encountered into either being beautiful or hideous - but with an exceptional twist; she doesn't judge on appearance, but instead by what each individual holds within. That is why, despite his rough hair, harsh eyes, and the number of faded scars decorating his skin, Oh Sehun is the most beautiful thing Mihyun has ever laid her eyes on.
"The world was a beautiful place. It was the people living on it that were ugly."
Background information: The story takes place in modern day Seoul, but with a twist of humanity. Although the technology and resources are up to date, the social inequalities are more than present, and the slave trave continues on. This story manipulates the rights and social classes of human beings in a rather cruel manner and identifies the cruelty within each and every individual.
Warnings: There will be dark themes such a ual abuse, violence, extreme social inequalities, death, and etc, so if you are not comfortable with such themes, please do not read - none of these will be extremely descriptive, however.
A/N: This is certainly a dramatic change from my typical stories, and will take a more angst and melchony turn in contrast to my usual upbeat and nonchalantly written fics.
