Narrator’s P.O.V:
Weeks passed and before you knew it, the day you dreaded had finally come. February 14th… also known as the infamous Valentine’s Day. You didn’t hate the day, it was just that it got annoying at times, with the pink and red hearts and all.
Lucky for you, this year, Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday. You were relieved that you didn’t have to see couples smooching it up at school. When you woke up early that morning, your mom was the only one home. She was cutting blocks of chocolate.
“Mmm… ‘Morning, mom. Where’s Oppas?” You yawned as you took a seat in the kitchen. “Goodness, dear. You’ve gotten pretty close to them, haven’t you? Anyways, they went out shopping for groceries. They insisted that they would do it. Such sweet boys.” She cooed and went back to cutting.
You rolled your eyes but grinned. “Are you making the yearly chocolates again?” You questioned. Every year, your mom would make special chocolates for you and her, but this time, for the whole family. You grabbed a chunk of chocolate and placed it in your mouth. “Yum, chocolate for breakfast.”
“Yes, and that’s not healthy, dear. Go make some eggs or eat cereal or something.” Your mom said without looking up from the cutting board. You pouted, “’Kay.”
After mixing together a bowl of cereal and milk, you sat back down. You had one kind of embarrassing question to ask, but you decided that if you wanted to know the answer, you’d have to ask your mom. You cleared your throat and looked up at your concentrating mother.
“Umma,” You spoke up. “Yeah?” She mumbled. You sighed, “I have a question.” She raised an eyebrow, “What kind of question?” “A love question.” You said, defeated. Your mom had a twinkle in her eye and grinned, pushing the cut chocolate out of the way. “Go on. Pose your question.”
You gulped but asked it. “Let’s say your heart beats quickly for someone, and you start feeling tingles whenever they smile or act kind towards you. Would that be… l-love…?” You asked awkwardly.
Your mom nodded mischievously. “That’s love, honey.” She smiled. Your eyes became round. “But what if that happens with other guys too?” You added on. Your mom shrugged her shoulders, “It could mean that you all love them in a romantic way as well. As they say, many lovers are better than none!” She smirked secretly and melted the chocolate.
You were stunned at how coolly she felt about the situation. “I…see…” You stuttered out. Your mom saw how awkward you were and pulled you over. “You want to help me make chocolate for your brothers?” She asked nonchalantly while mixing the chocolate. You hesitated, but then slowly relaxed.
*This is love. No matter how weird it seems, love knows no boundaries… right?* You felt a smile just a little bit and nodded at your mom.
“Yeah. Let’s make chocolates.” You declared.

“We’re home!” Your brothers declared as they lugged the groceries in. “Welcome back!” You called out from the kitchen as they entered.
“Waa! Chocolate!” Gongchan raised up his hands in excitement as he dropped a heavy bag onto Sandeul’s foot accidentally. “Oww!” Sandeul jumped up and down while grabbing his aching foot. “Oops.” Gongchan snickered.
Jinyoung, Baro, and CNU stared at the numerous chocolates on the table. “What’s all this?” CNU asked curiously. “Chocolates. What else, dumbo?” Jinyoung shook his head as his elder. CNU glared at Jinyoung. You laughed as Jinyoung gave you a wink.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Oppas!” You cheered as you each handed them a chocolate, starting from Baro.
“Yeah… Happy Valentine’s.” Baro murmured in happiness and in thought as he ate his chocolate.
