Burial Ritual
Description
AU. Aridia and Sansana have been at war for the last ten years, one that had beeen born from a need for power. Due to the birth of his Uncle's son, Prince Hyukjae is forced to flee south, to escape assassination, where he literally stumbles upon the enemy army. Under a guise, he is accepted into the army lead by a blond captain by the name of Donghae, where he begins to learn that Aridia is not the barbaric country he was taught to believe, but rather one with unique customs and beliefs.
Warnings: Will contain (despite how bad I am at writing it), also character death (it's called Burial Ritual for a reason), and a poor writing style.
Foreword
Honestly, I had to put this up in order to not delete the story out of frustration. I have it finished, and it's sat in my edit folder for months, but I honestly couldn't stand my writing style from a few months ago and never got around to editing it. About a week ago, I decided to salvage it, and so it shall be posted eventually. Also, I do have it's sequel in process, and an idea for a prequel, though whether or not I actually write those, is still debatable. Anyways, until I actually post the rest of this story, bear with only a small (slightly unedited) glimpse.
“I say let him fight,” the captain called out, above everyone else. The camp grew quiet and a few whispers were passed around, keeping it from utter silence. “Even if he is Sansanan, he should have a right to fight against his country. I would be the first the join the enemy’s army if Aridia had started to treat us like Sansana is treating their people.”
“If the captain says let him fight, then I will to,” said one of the soldiers and similar agreements sounded from the crowd.
“Have any armor, kid, or a sword?” asked a tall, busty blonde woman, who looked to be in her late thirties.
“I have a sword,” I said, pointing to the simple blade at my hip, thinking it should have been obvious to her, “ As for armor, I only have this bag,” I said as I shook my head, and lifted the bag that held bread, cheese, fruit and some dried meat.
“Anyone have any spares that might fit the kid?” she called out to the other soldiers. Some shuffled around and others headed into the tents, and after testing the fit of different pieces, I was dressed in an almost complete set of armor. The captain stepped forward and handed me the missing piece, a helmet.
“Welcome to the Aridian army, Eunhyuk."
