Yunee's heart beat very fast as she waited for Kris to say it.

He took a breath. "Yunee, I got a promotion."

"A promotion?" Yunee asked. That was not what she was expecting.

He nodded. "A very big promotion."

"Wow," she said and smiled. "Congratulations!"

"Thank you," he thanked her. "But it's for a job in the US. I'll have to move overseas if I take it."

Yunee frowned. "Are you going to take the job?" she asked.

"Yes," Kris said.

Yunee wanted to be happy for Kris, but she knew she would never see him again if he took the job. It would be the end of their relationship.
