Chapter Fifty-Nine

Spectrum {[Apply Closed]}

Jongsuk sat with his head in his hands, his eyes closed as he thought of all the bad things that had happened to the males within Spectrum, all the bad luck they had been having recently. He sat in the hospital chair, hoping for good luck to come their way soon. Woojung sat in the corner of the room with Sora, talking quietly with his worried lover – who felt guilty for making the leader neglect his health though it wasn’t his fault. Shin had his arms over Xue’s slouched shoulders as the magnae lightly bit his lip out of worry for the eldest member of Spectrum, he was still scared from the scene he had witnessed in the hotel room – they all were still a bit shaken up.  As for Minhyun, he was pacing back and forwards trying to rid himself of all the mixed emotions he was feeling – trying to rid himself of the worry for the oldest’s well-being and anger for the oldest’s stupidity. As he paced, Minhyun grumbled under his breath, wondering about what was taking the nurses so long to come and talk to them. Meanwhile, Hyun Soo stood outside the hospital talking to the company president on the phone, informing the man of the situation with Younghun and how it ended up leading into an ER visit – as well as learning more bad news from the president.

“Are you the relatives of Jung Younghun?” questioned a man dressed in a white coat, finally approaching the party, whose attention automatically fell on him.

“Yes,” stated Jongsuk, not hesitating in the least.

“I’m Doctor Kim,” stated the man, “I am in charge of Mr. Jung’s care and treatment. It appeared that he’s been here three times in the past two months, is that correct?”

Jongsuk nodded.

“Well, it appears that Mr. Jung’s bronchitis has turned into a mild case of pneumonia,” stated Dr. Kim, “However, we will be keeping him in the hospital for a couple of days due to the fact the bacteria causing the infection and inflammation in his lungs has become immune to the antibiotics we previously had him on and we want to make sure that it is not resistant to the new medicine we put him on, plus we want to keep a close eye on the inflammation in his lungs that is caused by the infection to make sure it starts going down soon considering that it lead to him going into a rather severe asthma attack.”

The six nodded.

The doctor then continued on and stated, “The thing that worries us the most about his condition is not the pneumonia, but as I said before the inflammation in his lungs since his last reported asthma attack was when he was thirteen.”

The six nodded, already knowing that information.

“He hasn’t ever had an asthma attack this bad, so we’re predicting that this is a onetime ordeal due to inflammation in his lungs,” stated Dr. Kim, “However, to be on the safe side, we’re prescribing him with another emergency inhaler, just in case the asthma has come back.”

Again the six nodded.

“Anyhow, right now the nurses are moving him to his room since there is no need for him to be in the ICU now that we now have everything under control,” stated Mr. Kim, “We are also going to do occasional chest x-rays to see if  the inflammation is going down at all. Right now, we currently having him going through oxygen therapy using a nebulizer since he is still showing symptoms of having an asthma attack plus, it’ll help him get enough oxygen into his lungs with his pneumonia. Besides oxygen therapy, we have him on an IV which is providing him with anti-biotics and anti-inflammatory medicine as well as liquids since he is showing some signs of dehydration.”

The six nodded in understanding again.

“Can we see him?” questioned the worried Xue.

The doctor nodded, “He’s in his public room now, so yes, I’ll take you there myself.”

The six nodded and looked at each other.

“You boys go ahead in, I’m going to go talk to Hyunsoo for a little bit so he can tell the president what is going on now,” stated Jong Suk, the five nodded and stood up, all eagerly moving towards Dr. Kim who happily lead them through the halls of the hospital and to the room where they heard the familiar raspiness of Younghun’s voice as he talked to a nurse.

They waited in the hall until the nurse left after a little while before finally entering the room to see the leader hooked up to about three different machines, one was keeping his temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure while the doctor had already told them what the other two were for. The male’s temperature stood out seeing as how it was green and read: 41 – a temperature that would’ve hospitalized him by itself. The five stared at the clearly exhausted leader and all noted that he looked paler, thinner against the white sheets.

“You’re an idiot,” muttered Minhyun, finally breaking the silence that sat over the six of them.

Younghun chuckled, making the five wince at how bad he sounded.

“Is there anything else anyone is hiding?” muttered Minhyun, scowling.

The other five shook their head.

“You never told us about you having asthma why?”

“I didn’t think I’d have problems with it again,” replied Younghun, raising his hand to mess with the mask that sat over his nose and mouth, only for his hand to be slapped away from it by Minhyun who took a seat beside his bed.

“So, you just decided not to tell us?” muttered Minhyun in anger.

Younghun nodded.

Shin gave Minhyun a look to tell him to calm down before asking, “Are you feeling any better?”

Younghun shook his head, “I still feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.”

The others nodded in understanding, figuring that he probably wasn’t too well considering that he was in the hospital hooked up to  couple of machines.

“This is a great way to start off the day,” muttered Minhyun sarcastically, anger still radiating off of him.

Younghun sighed, “I’m sorry alright? I didn’t know that I was having an asthma attack, okay?”

“How did you not know?” questioned Minhyun, earning glances from the other four who backed away slightly, sensing a lover’s quarrel coming on.

“I’m sure you’ve never had pneumonia before, but it feels pretty much the same,” muttered Younghun, “the only difference is that your chest muscles and neck muscles tighten up during an asthma attack other than that: wheezing, chest pain, shortness of breath, so on so forth are things that happen with both asthma and pneumonia.”

Minhyun shook his head and scoffed, “You knew what was going on when you woke up, so how’d you not before then?”

Younghun frowned and hissed out, “Sorry, I’m not perfect Minhyun and I only noticed when I couldn’t breathe.”

Sensing that the two were going to enter another lover’s quarrel, Shin cleared his throat and stated, “At least you’re alright hyung, I think this is just Minhyun’s way of showing that he was worried.”

“As if I’d be worried for this ,” muttered Minhyun, crossing his arms over his chest.

Shin sighed and shook his head in disbelief, getting really tired of his fellow 93-liners’ actions, “Hyung, take better care of yourself next time so you don’t get to this point, alright?”

Younghun nodded, humming in response to the younger’s words. He was silently thankful that Shin had stopped the argument he had no energy for before it had even started. Younghun felt his mood darkening slightly as he thought about how Shin would probably make a better leader than him – how he probably wouldn’t have made as many stupid mistakes. Noticing his negative thoughts, he shook his head, clearing his head of them.

“Hyung, don’t try to handle everything on your own,” muttered Xue, completely oblivious to the leader’s inner turmoil, “even if you are your leader. We’re here for a reason…we’re here to be a group – which requires us to help you as you help us. Your hospitalization is not only your fault but our own, we shouldn’t have let you overwork yourself as we had and we should’ve noticed how bad your condition had gotten, which brings me to believe that though we are close and we know each other very, very well – some more than others. We all are still hiding things, so I think it’s time we all think about coming clean and all of us letting the last of our barriers down so that we all can truly be close…right now, we may be close with each other and know quite a bit about each other but seriously, think about it hyung – we know nothing about each other’s pasts. We’re more like business partners and acquaintances than group mates, like the brothers we claim to be.”

The others all fell silent to the truth behind the magnae’s words.

“He’s right,” muttered Shin, “This hospital visit proves that there are things we all are hiding.”

Younghun looked down while the rest of the members reluctantly hummed in agreement.

“Which is why, after Younghun-hyung is discharged we’re going to take time to let our barriers down with each other – completely,” stated Xue, “So that way we could grow closer and increase our teamwork, also so that we can understand where we each are coming from.”

The others nodded a bit reluctantly, but knew that for the growth of their relationships and the team work in the group it needed to be done soon. It should’ve been done within the past year they had spent with each other, but they always seemed to find a way to avoid it.

Younghun felt a mix of emotions as the youngest finished up his speech: embarrassment because he had permitted himself to get this bad and for the six to be in this situation, guilt for making the others worry, and anger at himself for not noticing what the magnae had before this point in time. However, even as the emotions coursed through his exhausted body, he didn’t let any of them show, instead, he put on a small apologetic smile.

“I’m really sorry for worrying you all,” muttered Younghun, avoiding his group mate’s eyes, feeling even worse after Xue’s words, “I know you all are still pretty worried for me and all, but could you guys leave the room for a bit?”

The five looked at Younghun in shock, not expecting such a request to come from the leader’s mouth, however, after recovering from their initial shock, they nodded. As they bid the leader farewell, they took notice of the oldest’s heavy eyelids, took notice of the battle the leader was having with himself to keep them open. The five then realized that their oldest was probably just starting to feel the side effects of the medicine, plus, they figured the events of the morning were finally catching up to him as well.

Younghun watched as the five left, feeling a bit guilty from the hurt looks on their faces and closed his eyes, letting out a deep sigh, running a shaking hand through his already messed up hair as he tried hard to silence the doubts and insecurities in his head.

“You’ve messed up again, Younghun,” muttered the leader to himself before letting his hand fall back onto the bed before he rolled onto his side, trying to get as comfortable as he could with the IV in his hand the mask over his nose and mouth. Soon, he found his eyes finally closing and his thoughts falling silent as he fell asleep.

The five wondered the halls of the hospital, not really knowing what to do or where to go now that the leader had kicked them out of his room. They all understood the leader needed time for himself after the mess of a morning they had.

“If you two are together, I don’t really see you both lasting very long with how much you fight,” mumbled Woojung, breaking the heavy silence over the five, “You guys fight way too much.”

Minhyun growled, “We don’t fight all the time like you all seemed to believe we do.”

“Fine,” muttered Woojung, “You two fight most of the time you are together and pick at each other’s nerves and weaknesses if you aren’t fighting.”

Minhyun rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

“At least we’ve escaped having to hear yet another lover’s quarrel,” stated Xue cheekily, happily holding Shin’s hand in the empty corridor of the hospital.

Minhyun shook his head, “Yeah, but your words clearly bothered Younghun.”

Xue fell silent, staring at Minhyun who was glaring back at him, “I’m sure they don’t bother him as much as you think they do.”

Minhyun shrugged and turned his gaze onto the hallway they were walking through, ignoring the magnae’s words.

“Guys, I think now is not the time to be worrying about that,” muttered Sora, watching as their managers turned the corner before them, “Hyun Soo and Jong Suk are heading out way and they both look like they could kill someone.”

Xue’s once apparent smile faded to a frown and disbelief showed on his face at how angry the duo looked as they stopped before the four.

There was a pregnant silence before Hyunsoo questioned, “Younghun sleeping?”

The five hummed, guessing that that is what their leader decided to do after sending them out of the room.

“Good.”

“Why?” questioned Sora, his concern growing at the manager’s dark expressions.

“The rumor mill claimed two more of you as their victims on their website,” stated Hyun Soo, “all of the topics they brought up are rather large on the gossip news channels and I don’t want Younghun seeing them at this point in time.”

The five felt their heart stop and they were all trying to figure out what the stupid rumor mill decided to release this time around.

I think that this was a decent chapter, I don't know about you all though.

However, I'd really like to take a moment to thank you all for reading and most of all taking the time to comment. Anyhow, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter.

Ohh I love that kind of drama ~
But whaaaa... poor leader-nim. Why can't you all shut up and let Yonghyun get some rest~ o.o
And now they have to go to the hospital as well? To be honest, somehow I like that, them all being in the hotel, most likely getting a greater bond among the members due to the disallowance of leaving the hotel...
Once again I can't wait to read on~
But hey, we do love you and we don't mind you not updating. Have fun on your trips~ <3
