Kyungsoo sits in that same spot of his at the end of the library during study hall. It’s the same every day for study hall, just Kyungsoo, his music and his work books and studies that he needs to complete. But today, today is different. Kyungsoo looks at his desk in wonder as he approaches it with slow steps. On his desk is a little white fluffy teddy bear and under it a white envelope. Maybe someone forgot it here- but that thought is instantly cut off as Kyungsoo stares at the little sticky note on the bear’s forehead

Picking up the teddy bear and examining it, he looks down at the envelope

READ ME KYUNGSOO!
 

Kyungsoo chuckles lightly imagining massive neon signs saying READ ME KYUNGSOO! Sitting down on his desk as to not get scolded at by his study hall teacher for not sitting down and maybe causing disruption to the class, Kyungsoo places the bear in his lap and goes on to open the envelope, pulling out a paper

~Your eyes shine bright like the stars in the sky

And I wonder why

Or how

How can someone have such beautiful eyes?

Which mesmerize and capture you, pulling you in with just one glance?

That’s what happened to me

Looking at you

Brightens up my day

And I find myself smiling at everyone and everything

Kyungsoo doesn’t know what to say, or do, but he finds himself doing exactly what this mystery person asked him to do, smile. Looking down at his little bear he grins to himself, hugging it softly. Who are you? He whispers feeling his heart beat increase.

The next day, Kyungsoo finds a simple rose on his desk and he finds himself blushing.

Clutching the note, Kyungsoo finds it hard to breathe suddenly.

“Omo it’s a secret admirer!” His best friend Baekhyun exclaims after Kyungsoo’s told him about the teddy and the rose the next day. Kyungsoo sighs “Hyung what should I do?! I’m flattered and everything but I-“Baekhyun abruptly puts up a hand to silence him “Let’s ask Jongin!” Kyungsoo’s eyes widen “Wh-wh-what are you crazy? Jongin is the reason why I can’t-“ “JONGIN!” Baekhyun blatantly ignores Kyungsoo and his left spluttering

Jongin is Kim Jongin. The school’s heartthrob. Perfect body, perfect face, personality, everything. But his not your typical snobby popular boy, his humble, polite and sweet. Kyungsoo’s been friends with Jongin for a long time having known each other as little kids from going to the same pre-school, then finding out that their neighbours, moving onto middle school together and now in their second senior year in high school.

Jongin stops walking at the sound of his name and turns around to see Kyungsoo and Baekhyun seated on a bench near the school gym. Smiling Jongin waves at them, Baekhyun does a ‘come here’ motion and still smiling; Jongin makes his way over to them

“Oh my god hyung what are you doing! his coming- hyung what-“ “Hi” Jongin smiles and Kyungsoo’s breath has been knocked away. Kyungsoo simply just nods and Jongin finds the cute blush forming on his cheeks something that will be etched into his memory forever. “Hey Jongin, can we ask you something?”

The said one looks at his hyung and nods “Sure. What's going on?” Kyungsoo gives Baekhyun a ‘what the hell?!’ look to which Baekhyun once again simply ignores. “Kyungsoo here has a secret admirer and we are stuck on what to do. So, should he go find who this person is or wait for them to come to him” Kyungsoo glares at his hyung “YA!  Just go announce it to the whole world!” Kyungsoo screeches

Jongin puts his hands into his pockets and smiles down at Kyungsoo “No worries, secrets safe with me hyung” Kyungsoo’s heart somersaults “So, what have you thought about doing?” he asks

Kyungsoo shrugs “I-I don’t know. Wait for them to come I guess, I mean, why are they doing this? If they have enough guts to place it onto my table where people can see them, why not just give it to me in person? I don’t understand”

Jongin frowns “Well, maybe the person is too shy and too insecure to appeal to you in person. Maybe he hasn’t done this before and his too scared of what the consequences may be. Not matter how bold he is for doing this, coming to you in person is completely different. His putting his heart out on his sleeve to you, his probably just too afraid of what may happen if you were to know who he is. Maybe, his not just ready yet to tell you how he feels in person so his working his way up to it” Jongin explains in thought

If your wondering why Jongin’s referred to Kyungsoo’s admirer being a he and not a she, it’s because they go to an all boys school

“Oh. I never thought about it that way” Kyungsoo says in a small voice, feeling guilty for not trying to empathise with his admirer. His never had the guts to do something like that so who is he to judge hey?

Baekhyun stares silently at Jongin as Jongin softly smiles at Kyungsoo

“Well, maybe you should just wait and see. The person might reveal himself, but only when his ready. Anyway I gotta go. Talk to you two later. See ya hyung’s!” Jongin waves and grins one last time before turning away

“See you!” Kyungsoo calls back. Jongin does a thing which makes Kyungsoo’s heart backflip, he turns around and waves again, smiling once again before looking forward again

Kyungsoo stares at his retreating back and Baekhyun giggles to himself

It’s the day before Valentines Day and Kyungsoo finds a silver chained bracelet. It’s beautiful and Kyungsoo marvels at the item.

~Another present for you

Tomorrow I have a surprise

And a request

I may not be able to show myself to you yet

But I will

Keep smiling Kyungsoo

Because it gives me the strength to continue on~

“Hyung! WAIT UP!”

Kyungsoo’s heart does that jump-spin kick-back flip- somersault- thingy as he turns around and watches as Jongin, with a bright smile, comes running his way. “Ya, hyung” he puffs when he comes to a stop, bending over and breathing heavily “Ahh I ran all the way from home, seriously” Kyungsoo chuckles as he eyes the younger male

“Really? Why?” After Jongin regains his breathing, the two walk together into the schools gate

“Huh? Ah I thought I was late. Bloody Sehun changed my phone time so when I looked at it it said 10am. Then he texted me just then and was like PSYCH! And then I saw you” Jongin scratches the back of his neck awkwardly and Kyungsoo’s heart melts as he giggles “Trust my dongsaeng’s. You two just can’t help but prank each other huh?”

Jongin just smiles and shrugs sheepishly “Yeah well, that’s just us”

Kyungsoo smiles back at Jongin

Jongin, you just make every thing so much brighter for me

Kyungsoo stares down at the ticket in his hand and the note left for him

~It’s Valentines Day today

And I’m ready to show myself to you

Come meet me tonight, 6pm, by the gate

I’ll be wearing the same silver chain as you

With the Amusement park ticket in his hand Kyungsoo breaks down in front of his hyung “Baekhyun-ah! What do I do! His gone through so much effort but its just going to go to waste because my heart is already somewhere else. Ahhh hyung I’m screwed” Kyungsoo yells out in frustration and buries his head into his palms

Their on the rooftop of the school. Baekhyun puts a comforting hand on his dongsaeng’s back

“Look, just go see him tonight and break it to him in person. It’s better to do that than to not show up at all. Okay? If you need your hyung, just text me or call” Kyungsoo looks up thankfully to his hyung “But you’ll be out with Chanyeol hyung and I don’t want to interrupt you guys” Kyungsoo pouts and Chanyeol chuckles “Ya, you won’t be interrupting plus your like Channie’s little baby and mine too. We want to be here for you but I have a feeling that tonight is going to be a good night so cheer up baby bro” Baekhyun puts his arms around Kyungsoo’s shoulder and pulls him in for a hug

“Yeah well I hope so, I really don’t want to hurt this guy” Kyungsoo whispers “I wonder what Jongin’s doing tonight…” he whispers to himself. Baekhyun smiles.

Kyungsoo is walking closer and closer towards the amusement park’s gate entrance and his heart is beating rapidly, his palms are sweaty and his shaky. “I can do this. I can do this, come on Kyungsoo, just break it nicely and he’ll understand. God don’t freak out you can do this!” Kyungsoo mumbles to himself, mentally psyching himself up

As he reaches the gates entrance he notices a figure, a figure that he knows all too well. His heart leaps but also dies a little inside

There in front of him, is Kim Jongin, standing by the gate with a bouquet of roses in his hand. His on a date…

Kyungsoo takes in a heavy breath and slowly makes his way to the figure I’m sure my admirer won’t mind if I’m late for just a second…

“Hey! Jongin-ah!”

Jongin’s out of his daze and looks up at the approaching figure. Jongin immediately smiles. “Kyungsoo!”

Kyungsoo comes to a stop just in front of Jongin. Jongin’s dressed nice and casual, in a pair of navy jeans, white top and black cardigan. Kyungsoo himself is dressed in white tight jeans, black top and black leather jacket. The two stare at each other for a while until Kyungsoo coughs a bit awkwardly

“Um, hey. What are you doing here?” Kyungsoo asks a bit stupidly

Jongin smiles “What are you doing here?”

Kyungsoo blinks. “Ya! I asked you first!” he points a finger out at Jongin and Jongin just laughs

“Yeah well, you can answer first as well” Jongin smiles cheekily and Kyungsoo puffs out his cheeks in annoyance

“My secret admirer wanted to meet me here” Kyungsoo explains

Jongin nods in understanding “I’m confessing to someone”

Kyungsoo’s heart clenches and tightens painfully

“O-oh. Well, good luck! I better go in! See you!” Kyungsoo waves his arm around and Jongin spots something out of the corner of his eye on Kyungsoo’s wrist. “Bye Jongin-ah!”

Before Kyungsoo can go in, Jongin quickly reaches out “Hyung”

Kyungsoo looks down at Jongin’s wrist and his eyes pop out basically

There, on Jongin’s wrist, is the same exact chain as the one he has on

“T-that. H-hah-hah, coincidence” Kyungsoo says in disbelief

Jongin turns him around slowly until their face to face, just inches away from each other

“Kyungsoo”

Kyungsoo feels like his in a dream. “I-I’m going to go inside-

Kyungsoo stares in shock. Jongin’s just recited every word he read that was on the first letter he got. “Kyungsoo. Meet your admirer, Kim Jongin.” Kyungsoo bites down on his lip “This isn’t a dream right?” Jongin laughs “No, its not. Its real and I’m asking you, if you will be my valentine so-

Jongin gets down in one knee with the bouquet in his outstretched hands, showing them too Kyungsoo “Do Kyungsoo, be my valentine?”

Kyungsoo feels like laughing and crying at the same time

“Yes. I will”

Jongin is walking Kyungsoo home after their date, Kyungsoo holding his bouquet of roses in one hand and Jongin’s hand in the other. It’s a comfortable silence and his enjoying being in Jongin’s company.

Reaching Kyungsoo’s home they come face to face with each other, still holding hands tightly

“Thank you for tonight Jongin. I had fun” Kyungsoo smiles brightly and Jongin’s heart pounds happily “No thank you, and I had a great time too” Jongin smiles affectionately towards the older and Kyungsoo feels all soft and mushy inside

“Well I-I better go in. Good night” Kyungsoo gets up onto his tippy toes to kiss Jongin softly on the cheek. Pulling away, he smiles at him “Good night”

“No-wait” Jongin reaches out and pulls Kyungsoo back in, swiftly placing the roses onto the floor on the side and quickly, pulls Kyungsoo into his arms, leaning in to place a soft, warm, tender kiss on Kyungsoo’s lips.

Kyungsoo is shocked momentarily but responds, wrapping his arms tightly around Jongin’s neck to pull him in closer as Jongin angles his head, pulling Kyungsoo in by the waist to place their bodies flush together.

Jongin pulls away to look at a flushed Kyungsoo, his eyes impossibly wide and Jongin chuckles before placing their foreheads together “Kyungsoo, be my boyfriend?”

And Kyungsoo’s heart just stops beating

“Jongin”

“I love you hyung. I have for so long. All I’ve seen is you. Please accept my heart” Jongin whispers softly

Kyungsoo fights back the tears and leans in to place a chaste kiss on Jongin’s lips

“I love you too and have for so long as well. You are always in my heart. And yes, I will be your boyfriend” Kyungsoo smiles so brightly Jongin swears that Kyungsoo is his sun, his light, his everything.
