Chapter 11
Cloud NineAfter paying a visit to the hospital, apparently to check for any internal damage to your head, you were finally able to check out after receiving word from the doctor. Jay had received proper stitches on his arm, and he too was able to leave. There were many other people in the hospital who had been victims of the recent avalanche, but the majority were minor injuries or post-traumatic stress at most.
You made your way along the platform of the train station, slightly relieved to be going home at last. "You could at least zip up your jacket," you tried to convince Jay, "You're going to catch a cold." Even in the sun, it was quite chilly outside, yet Jay couldn't be bothered by the cold temperature.
Jay laughed, "I'm fine."
"Tch, you're such a child sometimes," you scolded him, shaking your head at his stubbornness.
"Aish," he sighed, then pulled up the zipper on his coat. "If I survived an avalanche, I don't think a little cold is going to stop me. Prob' need some kryptonite or somethin'…" he boasted jokingly.
You laughed. "Think you're big now, huh? Come on, Super Man, the train's almost here."
He seemed to ponder something for a moment, "Actually, nah. Not Super Man; tights and a cape aren't really my thing. Maybe like…that blue thing from X-Men." [ A/N: props if you get the song reference ;) ]
"Well, whatever your alias may be, you'll have to find a different sidekick, because I think I've had enough adventure for one weekend, thank you very much."
He smiled. "You kidding? I think I'm all about the thrills now. Let's go rock climbing next–"
"Getting a bit carried away, much?"
"–No, scratch that, sky diving!"
You rolled your eyes and kept walking, but you couldn't help but smile. Off in the distance, the horn of the train bellowed as it neared the station and the screeching of the brakes drowned your ears.
