Donghae POV

Standing on the grassy cliff-top, I spread my arms and breathed in the warm breeze in the air, tasting the slight salty edge to it that was so characteristic of the sea. My body leaned forwards slightly of its own accord, wanting to get closer to the tantalising scent in front of me. I’d always loved the sea, even when I was a little kid I remember demanding to go to the seaside every year to see all the little fishes as soon as the weather got warm enough. I raised myself up onto my tiptoes, appearing as if I was about to take flight. I chuckled quietly to myself at the thought, oh the irony.

“I think you’re missing someone if you’re trying to do the Titanic there Rosie, where’s Jack?”

“Oh ha ha, you’re so witty” I said to the voice behind me, not even bothering to open my eyes as I knew who it was the moment he’d spoken. He was the only one who knew about this place anyway.

“Yah! That’s hyung to you Fish! And you know you love me, I’m simply too awesome to resist”

I could just picture the smug cat-like smirk on his face as he said that and rolled my eyes behind my closed lids. “What did you want Heechul-hyung?”

“Leeteuk sent me to find you, he says he needs to see you now” Heechul replied.

I slowly opened my eyes and lowered myself. Not taking my eyes off the waves gently crashing below I asked, “Did he say why? He promised I wouldn’t be needed for a while”

Heechul’s eyes turned soft and he shook his head “I know. Let’s just go see what he wants hm?” he put his hand on my shoulder and led me away from my secret haven.

Leeteuk was pacing up and down as we entered the room, his footsteps barely audible on the smooth grey marble floor, but he didn’t look harried or anything more like he was just in contemplation. 

I cleared my throat to announce our presence, “Leeteuk-hyung, you wanted to see me?”

He stopped his pacing and turned to greet us, his trademark dimpled smile appearing on his face as he welcomed us in an embrace. “Ah Donghae-ah it’s been a while neh?”      

I nodded and returned his embrace, “So was there something you wanted to talk to me about hyung?”

“Ah yes, well it’s about your request 7 months ago- oh it’s okay Heechul, you don’t have to go” He said setting a hand on Heechul’s arm as he was about to leave, sensing that this was going to be a private conversation.

I stiffened hearing what this was about. My request all those months ago.  

“S-so have you come to a decision?” I asked quietly unable to stop myself from stuttering in my apprehension.

“Yes Donghae I have,” I waited for him to go on, “One more. I request you to complete one more mission for me and you’re done.”

My eyes widened in disbelief as I took in his words. I was stunned speechless, I couldn’t believe it! I took a quick glance sideways at Heechul and saw that he was just as shocked, his mouth hanging open in a way most unbefitting of the diva. When I had made my request, it had been mostly out of desperation, I never thought he would actually consider granting my wish. Leaving was almost impossible- unheard of- and all I had to do was complete one last mission!

“Donghae?” I saw Leeteuk waving his hand in front of my face and I realised I still had yet to answer him.

“L-Leeteuk-hyung, r-really? All I have to do is complete just one more mission?” I had to check, it was almost too good to be true.

Leeteuk nodded and gave me a half-smile, “Neh Donghae-ah. Really. I can see how much you’ve been suffering my dongsaeng, I don’t want you to suffer”

It tool all of my self-control not to just burst into tears and engulf him in a hug right there and then. Taking a deep breath to steady myself I said, “Then I accept. Who’s my last mission hyung?”

He handed over a black ring-binder folder to me, identical to the many ones I’d seen before.

“His name is Lee Hyukjae. Good luck Donghae-ah”
