Joseon Korea, 1706. The wise and benevolent reign of King Yunjong has ushered in a golden age of peace and prosperity, yet his sudden death from an unknown illness threatens to plunge the state into a new era of chaos, undoing decades of progress. With Crown Prince Yunho still a child, the former Empress Jyehyun, now Empress Dowager, is appointed crown regent, ruling over the Joseon Dynasty with the aid of the Chief State Councillor, Kwon Junghyun, until the young Crown Prince comes of age to assume his rightful birthright.

 

Kwon BoA, youngest child of the Gwandong Kwon clan and the sole daughter, was brought into the palace at a young age to serve as a gungyeo. Audacious at heart and extremely intelligent, the young maiden’s fate unexpectedly becomes intertwined with the lives of the Royal Family as she grows up. Life in the imperial household also brings BoA to the realisation of the need to plot and scheme against others in order to survive. BoA begins to realize that the seemingly perfect life in the Imperial Palace so many dream of is, in fact, not so perfect after all.

gungnyeo- palace maid, one of the lowest ranking given to women in the palace

sanggung- title for a 5th ranking lady officer, the highest attainable for gungnyeo (Ranking 1-4 are for Consorts)

jeonha- official calling in respect for the King by everyone in the palace

daebi- official calling in respect for the Empress Dowager (when calling her, it'll be daebi-mama)

seja- official calling in respect for the Crown Prince by everyone in the palace

mama- official calling in respect for the Empress, Queen, Consorts, and also to Sanggungs.

jungjeon- official calling in respect for the Queen. (when calling her, it'll be jungjeon-mama)

sangseon- official calling for the Chief Eunuch

gongju- official calling in respect for the Princess

uinyeo- female physician, equivalent to the now "nurse".

Chapter 6: Oh gosh... And the plot thickens! Damn! I remember the days when you were still in the conceptualizing stages where you were telling me how it's only gonna be a short fic and such but now it's so elaborate and amazing and I'm just so impressed, Kim! Chapter 5: Evil Yuri omg disgusts me. So many things happening lol and GD as her accomplice too funny haha cause just can't see him or Yuri like this. Chapters are just the right length I love it, keep going bb this is great!

Chapter 4: Jiyeon is so nice and that makes me really happy I how they stay friends and fight against Yuri ugh she's gonna be a handful! Lol moving so fast with Boa becoming a consort already but I like it.

This is written very well Kimmay, I'm enjoying this very very much. There's just enough description to add the right amount of feeling without it being boring. And I'm sorry since these comments were so long overdue. I hope you have reading them. Okay another chapter!

Chapter 3: I like Jiyeon so I approve that you chose her as Yunhos queen but ahhhh they meet again and this time is still just as cute after all this time. Poor Jiyeon who can't have children and ahh Yuri is here now, the troubles begin!!

Chapter 1: I feel like for Yunho because he is the crown prince he like disregards their meeting, not in a mean way but like nonchalantly but for Boa omg this is like a big moment for her as a servant to be so close with royalty lol
