Music From Another Room

Description

Arranged marriages are troublesome.  There’s infinite awkwardness, complete uneasiness, and anxious hopes of mistakes and failures from both sides.  But sometimes the gods of fate are influenced by Aphrodite herself and give you the opportunity to play with a very good hand, a chance to be with the one you love.  Nothing gold can stay, but if you follow the rules carefully, honestly, and intelligently, this troublesome, awkward, uneasy, and anxious “forced romance” become the stuff of legends.

Note:  This story began the early elements of The Rightful Heir.  So those who read the first chapters of both stories will see many parallels.  Eventually the story diverged into The Rightful Heir and this one, Music From Another Room.  As the story progresses, it will find its own identity, I promise :)

Foreword

Girls ran to be Kai's partner, but instead he ignored them, turned her chair to face his and began reciting a line:

"Did my heart love till now?"

She was frozen, numb, she couldn't react, she's falling slowly, softly, into this dark Prince's attack.

He continued: "Forswear it, sight!  For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night."

The two just looked at each other. She was calculating; He was soaking it in. This is what it feels like to feel for someone.

"You are a liar," she speaks.

"Why?"

"You do feel, you have emotions and feelings. I saw it, this morning, on the stage. You let all your emotions out in your dancing."

"Dance is like that, you're right I do feel, but never for someone else. Until you." He leaned over to whisper.  "And no matter how hard you try to runaway from me, I won't leave you alone until you give me a chance, this is all I ask.  A chance to win your heart, and for you to accept mine."
