The show starts with a girl standing outside a tent, looking up at the sky. Turning back inside the tent for a moment, the girl addresses a photo, asking "Mother, look after the tent, while I'm at school, ok?". As she walks off, we learn her name isSandara Park, and that since her mother died in a car crash, she's been living in a tent.

Dara stumbles upon a house and, investigating, finds twelve ornaments, made in the shape of the Chinese zodiac, orjuunishi . As she's looking, a man comes out of the house, suprising her. He comments that they couldn't be that interesting to a young person. Dara disagrees, saying that they're very cute. The man smiles. "I like them too."

Dara notes that there isn't a cat ornament. The man asks if she's referring to the juunishi legend.Dara explains that when she was young her mother often told her the story.

How God invited all the animals to a banquet, and how the rat, who liked to play jokes, told the cat that the banquet would be held the day after tomorrow. The next all the animals except the cat showed up for the feast, the rat in the lead.

Little Dara cried for the poor cat, and decided that rather than remaining year of the dog, she would become year of the cat. The man wonders "What sort of face would he make if he heard that?"

Before Dara can begin to wonder what he meant. He says that he knew they had an affinity. "I'm a dog too, you-" Crash. A bookbag lands on the man's head. The boy holding it scolds him for flirting, and asks Dara if she's alright, and if his cousin did anything to her. Dara, suprised, stammers out "T-top!". Inner dialouge:Mother, the prince of my high school, Choi Seung Hyun, is standing right before my eyes! Then, this... this must be his house!End inner dialouge. The man complains that the bookbag was heavy and asks if there's a dictionary in there. TOP answers : "Two of them." Introductions are made. The man's name is revealed to be Dong Young Bae. TOP asks Dara what's she's doing in the area. She answers that her house is nearby. "Near... here?" they wonder.

Dara & TOP walk to school together, passing some of the "Prince TOP" fangirls on the way. At school the fangirls interrogate Dara, declaim TOP's virtues, and don't believer her when she says it was an accident. Suddenly a tall girl looms up behind them, defending Dara. The fangirls are obviously scared of her, but attempt to stand their ground. Another girl appears, saying: I will -BEEEEEEEP- you with denpa waves. The fangirls turn tail and run. Dara thanks Bom (the tall girl) & Cl (the denpa wave girl) for saving her. Turns out they're her best friends, and in Home Ec. she tells them about her morning, including how she froze up with TOP because she was so nervous. Cl comments that she feels unusual waves from him. Bom comments that he is rather mysterious. He never talks about himself, and when a girl tried to hug him he her away and looked terrified. Changinging the subject, Bom asks Dara  if she's working today and when Dara says yes, asks if her grandfather is still taking care of her. Cl says it's odd that she has to work so much. Bom tells Dara if her grandpa's taking her paycheck, she'll make sure he doesn't get away with it. Dara thinks to herself that she couldn't tell them. After her mother's accident, she went to stay with her grandpa, but since he lives on a small pension, she said she'd pay for herself. When her grandpa had his house remodeled, he asked if she could stay with a friend for the duration. Dara didn't want to trouble her friends, so she decided that she might as well start living on her own.

Dara runs into TOP on her way home. They start discussing the zodiac, and TOP asks her about the Year of the Cat decison. She responds "I was a bit off-kilter as a child.". TOP says that cats are fools. He tells Dara that the zodiac started as a timekeeping system, that no one knows why the animals were added, that there never was room for the cat, and that it's better that way. "The cat really is a fool." Dara asks if he hates cats. He turns and favors her with an Absolute Zero Smile....
