First tip

Tips for you, english people...

Hello to you, dear english speaking reader (and to you too, Than, but you're french too so you don't count).

We are here today because I wanted to give some tips to you, before you come to France, if you ever plan to.

French is a freakingly difficult language. Trust me, one of the only reasons I'm glad to be french is because like that I won't struggle to learn it. The dude who invented french was a sadistic racist, I swear. Or a spy. Or both.

Anyway, I shall begin with my first tip of the day :

This thing you just can't say.

We all know that the most used expression in english -and the most known, for that matter- is « Oh my God ». Now, saying OMG in France is really awkward for us, frenchies. Here is why :

God means God (well, duh), but in french, God had the same pronunciation as the french word 'gode'. Which means . Which means that, to us, it sounds like you say « Oh my  ».

Told you it was awkward.

If you forget about it and say this in front of a french, don't feel insulted if they laugh. You know you would too if a french came to whatever-english-speaking-country-you-are-from and said « Oh my  ».
