⚜ My Big Heart

Note: You don't have to listen to the songs I put on here. It's just for fun. :)) And don't listen to the lyrics, I choose most of them because I really like the melody.  And it was really hard finding a song for this first chapter, so.. I'm sorry. -.-"

**Open Music in NEW Tabs

"Miyoung!!”  I turned my head swiftly when my name was called.  I was taken by surprised when Hye Su jumped at me, hugging me tightly.  “Yah~~ What the heck?”  I cringed at her sudden skin ship.  “THE SCHOOL’S SENDING YOU TO THE NATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION IN SEOUL!!!”

A smile quickly formed across my face before I quickly pulled her off me, “Chincha! Where does it say that?!”  I said excitedly before she grabbed my hands and dragged me down the school halls.

We slowed down at the front of the entrance and she pointed to a board on the wall.  I was shocked, “Couldn’t they have chosen a better picture of me?”  I mumbled as I made a disgusted face.  “Yah!”  She nudged my arm, “That’s not why we’re here, idiot!”  I sighed before reading the article under my picture.

‘Park Miyoung, a junior Incheon Bakmun Girls' High School has been chosen by 3 judges in a sea of 412 students to go as a representative for Incheon Bakmun Girls' High School in the competition to be the best in South Korea.  If she wins this National competition, the Oh Corporations will be giving her, or the winner, a full scholarship to the most prestigious performing arts school. Added on to that, the country will also be sending the winner to the International Piano Competition held in New York, USA, this year.  Park Miyoung has been…’

“Oh. My—”

“Stop gapping! We have to tell your parents!!”  She shouted as she dragged me out of the school.  Around me I saw my classmates smiling and giving me encouraging words.

I looked around, awkwardly smiling at everyone.  Hye Su snickered, “Why do I feel like I’m more into this than you are?”  She stated before we both stopped at a bus station.  “Because you probably are more into this than I am…”  I retorted back with a smirk before she lightly slapped my arm.  “Aish…stop joking.”  The bus rolled to a stop in front of us and she pulled me in, “Come on, we have to get to your place.”

It Hurts

Weeks leading up to the competition were long and hard.  I practiced my piece until my fingers ached, never wanting to stop until I perfected each part.  Everything’s been so stressful, and I’ve been feeling like blacking out lately.  “Maybe I should stop practicing for a while…”  I mumbled to myself as I sat in the school’s music room alone.

I got up slowly from the exhaustion that washed over me.  Dizziness and nausea quickly swept me off my feet before I stumbled to the ground.  “Ahh…” I whimpered as I tried getting back up.

There was a sudden tightness in my chest before my breaths were cut short.  I coughed while forcing myself up with the help of the piano chair.  Tightly, I clutched onto my chest, leaning over the chair and taking in slow breathes to hopefully return it back to its normal pattern.  A sudden pounding in my head sent me back slouching to the ground before everything around me went black.

When I came back into consciousness, I could hear faint calls of my name; I cried out in my mind, but as I slowly opened my mouth, nothing came out.  I slowly opened my eyes before white and bright light quickly made me close them again.  The tightness in my chest returned before I let a moan deep in the back of my throat out, and everything around me slowly ceased.

There was a murmur of voices in the room.  I felt something warm resting over my hands before I suddenly twitched.  My eyes opened slowly as the voice grew closer to me.

“Miyoung…yeobo, she’s awake! Dear, can you hear me?”

Umma…?

Nothing came out besides a hoarse groan.

My sight finally came back and I noticed the white walls around me.  I glanced down and widen my eyes as I saw wires and needles in my arms.  I looked up frightened.

“Umma…”  I croaked, finally having it spoken out loud.

She quickly leaned down and hugged me tightly as I saw a doctor walk inside the room.  Umma pulled away from me before appa kissed the crown of my head.  I stared blankly at everyone, confused as to what happened.

The doctor walked up to me and bombarded me with questions.  Ugh, I’m tired and I feel sick. Why am I here? I should be practicing…

“Miyoung…Miyoung are you listening to me?”  I walked out of my daze before nodding at whatever my doctor just said.

“No, you weren’t.  I just said that you have cardiomegaly.”  I furrowed my eyebrows before he started again.  “Miyoung, you have a big heart.”

Without thinking I choked out a chuckle before everyone turned their eyes at me.  I guess that’s not funny then…?

“…I know I have a big heart. I love helping others, but that doesn’t explain why I’m here.”  I responded back to him.  I saw my mother’s face fall from the corner of my eyes, “Miyoung, this matter shouldn’t be taken lightly.”  She said in a pleading voice as she lightly squeezed my hand.

“Miyoung, when you have cardiomegaly, or a big heart, it means that your heart may have enlarged because of an increased workload or stress and may be caused by high blood pressure, a heart defect, anemia, a heart arrhythmia or cardiomyopathy.  When we did checkups the first day you came in, we found out that you had cardiomyopathy which is a disease that weakens your heart muscles.”

The first day I came in...? I closed my eyes, not wanting to hear anything further.  “How long have I been here?”  I mumbled.  “Miyoung—”

“How. Long. Have. I Been. Here?”  I said firmly as I opened my eyes again.

“A week.”

A week? A freaking week? I could feel my heart beat increase.  “The competition?”  I said trying to say it in the calmest voice possible for me at the moment.

“Miyoung, let’s not--”  “The Competition!”  I hissed, annoyed.  Why aren’t you guys telling me anything!?  I wanted to scream.

“Someone else will go for you.”

I felt my heart drop as my breathing shortened.  I became light headed again before my eyes struggled to stay open.

“Miyoung!?”  They all shouted my name before everything faded, again.

[Sehun]

Ugh, it’s Monday already.  Life’s the same; I need something more interesting to happen.  Everything’s the same, never changing.

I wake up, get ready for school.  Have my driver drive me to school before being invaded by a mob of girls standing outside the steps of the school waiting for Exo and I to enter.

Exo, you ask? Let’s see, we run the school.  Richest, most popular people in school, we basically get our way.  No one bothers to argue back with us, not even the teachers, but I think that’s just because Joonmyun’s grandfather owns the place.  I guess that’s another reason why we haven’t got kicked out yet, that and the fact that we’re just talented in about everything.

I looked out the window before stepping out of the car. Girls quickly ran up to me, screaming my name and handing me gifts.  I quickly flashed them all ma smile before I heard my name being called from somewhere in the crowd.

“Yah! Oh Sehun!”

I looked up from the girls before seeing Lu Han waving me over.  I quickly made my way over, saying bye to the girls before, of course.

He threw his arms around my shoulders, “You know that competition that your family was holding? That piano one?”  Lu Han questioned me before I nodded, “Of course, why wouldn’t I?”

He snickered, “I guess you haven’t heard that one of the girls dropped out a couple days ago.”  I shrugged, “That’s it? Pwah! I don’t care. It’s just a lame competition anyways.”

“It’s not just a lame competition, and that girl that dropped out was said to be the best in South Korea.”  Kyungsoo suddenly in.   “If she’s so good, why isn’t she here? She’s ob-OWW!”

Pain shot from behind my head.  I quickly turned around to see Eunae glaring at me.  “Yah! Watch your words! That competition helps people! AND she was amazing! I watched her audition tapes!”

My lips twitched, If you weren’t dating Baekhyun….  I sighed before glaring at Baekhyun.  He just smiled and shrugged before pulling on Eunae’s waist.

Lu Han chuckled, “Serves you rig-”  “Don’t even.”

“Oh Sehun! When’s the competition tonight?”  Jongin ran up to me and punches my arm before I scowled.  “You’re only going to flirt with the girls.” I retorted, “So why both-”

“Yah~ You do the same, so I wouldn’t be talking…come on, 6? 7?”  I heavily sighed as we all made our way inside the school building, “7 PM at the Seoul Musical Hall.”

“Oh! Hey!”  Joonmyun shouted from down the hall as he walked with Kris and Tao.  “The principal wants to see us all. It’s about your competition thing tonight.”  He directed towards me.

Ugh, I hope it’s not going to be something dumb I have to do…

“Sit, please.”  The principal said before he turned around.  “Sehun, your parents just called me telling me to excuse all of you from school today, I guess they forgot to tell you since they must be very busy.”

My lips curled into a smirk as the other guys cheered.  I quickly wiped it away before stating, “What’s the catch?”

The principal chuckled, “You’ll be touring the girls in your competition. That’s not much of a catch since I’m sur-”

“Oh Sehun! You’re parents are the best!!” Chanyeol shouted before Jongdae punched my arm, “Meeting some girls tonight!”

I rolled my eyes at their remarks.  The principal loudly cleared his throat, “Don’t talk about this girl thing until after you leave this room.”  He glared at Jongdae.

“Now, go wait by the front gates, they’ll be sending a car for you all and sending you guys to the Seoul Musical Hall where you guys will introduce yourselves and…I’m not sure, further information will be given there, I’m guessing…now, shoo—”

We bowed before leaving the room.

“Seriously, Sehun, I love your parents! They always do things like this!” Chanyeol said throwing his arms around my shoulders.  I just shrugged, “It actually gets tiring after a while…” I muttered.  “What?”  He looked at me confused before I shook my head, “Nothing.”

We waited for a couple minutes before a limo pulled up. “Ohh~ I missed these.”  Minseok said happily getting inside.

Everyone settled in as the car drove off to Seoul Musical Hall.  Everyone chatted amonst each other as I sat quietly, staring at nothing.

Someone nudged my arm and I turned my head to stare at him.  Lu Han cocked his head, “Something wrong?”  I quickly shook my head, “Aniyo, nothing…nothing at all.”  I sighed before turning my head again.

The same thing, over and over again.  When will something exciting happen in my life?

HI, hi, hi! :))

So what do you think of it so far? I know it goes by fast, but I already warned you in the forward. :))

I'll try to update on how much time has past each chapter and a summary.

So, the announcement happened, and she practiced her piano piece for the competition for 2 months then she fell ill.  She was in the hospital for a week. [sehun's part] A couple days later is the competition.  He's talking about how popular he is, but he's sick of it because it's the same thing over and over again, everyday.

I hope this clears everything. I'm sorry.

Until then~!

Chapter 29: You have this thing about diseases huh.. Your story is depressing but it is still sweet. I love how Sehun love Miyoung despite the pain he's feeling everytime she is in deep pain because of her disease. But for the sequel, I will surely read it but according to one of the reader's comment, hell will break through if you'll make Mihyun with Sehun after those tearful moments with Miyoung. I just can't think about it. It is painful already. huhuhu. Anyway, this is so good. I love it. really. ;))

Chapter 30: I was about to comment on ch. 28 "I'm telling you, if this sequel is about Minah, I'm not going to read it. You can't just get me all invested into Miyoung, kill her off, and then expect me to read a sequel without her there. " but I decided to read the rest, and I'm glad I did. But author-nim be warned, if Sehun gets together with Minah, all hell will break loose.
