TAEMIN’S POV

“And the winner for this year’s Music Idol is…”

“Hey, Daniel! Isn’t she Korean?” Anthony, my American friend, asked me. I just nodded not knowing how to reply. I’ve been her admirer since day one. Her voice was the best I’ve ever heard. She gave me a reason to stand up once more and live for my dream.

“…Lee Jieun!” the host announced and our dormitory turned to chaos. “I knew she’ll win. Got beauty and voice. What else can you wish for?” my friend nudged me. “Babo, are you really fanboying over her because of her talent or her body?” I asked in return. “Well… she got it all. I’d trade my soul to be her boyfriend.” Anthony said.

 Jieun sang once more as an encore. Everyone in the crowd was cheering. Television or our dorm, people are rooting for her. It was almost the end of the song and the much awaited high note but then, she didn’t hit it. Jieun’s voice didn’t crack. No voice came out and the show ended immediately.

“What happened?” Questions were passed on around. Some soon doubted her talent. No. I promise to stay by her side no matter what. I owe her a lot. I wouldn’t be what I am now if it weren’t for her.

“Lee Jieun was diagnosed with Dysphonia?” I repeated what the new anchor said on a news report a couple of minutes after the music show. “That’s totally the worst thing a singer would wish for. She’ll lose her voice.” Anthony said as he drank a cup of coffee.

No. She can’t lose her voice. This is my time to pay back. “I’ll follow her in Korea.” I blurted out. “Are you crazy? Gonna stop studying and stalk her? FYI, she’s studying in an all girl arts school.” my friend said. I nodded. I am very much certain. This is the right decision.

“If I need to be a girl to help her out, I will do it.” I told him and smiled. “Are you ing crazy, Daniel?” Anthony asked me. I shook my head. He grabbed me by my shoulders and looked at me straight at the eyes. “Daniel, are you gay?” he asked. “Nope.” I answered and pursed my lips to kiss him.

IU’S POV

“Umma~” I called out as soon as I woke up. “Jieunnie, do feel better now?” I heard my appa’s voice. “Why are you here?” I asked him. “Can’t I visit my only daughter?” he asked back. I held on a chuckle and said “You barely visited umma when she was sick. Would you do that to me as well?”

He didn’t answer. Silence is for guilty people.
