Prologue
The relatively young girl gritted her teeth and knocked hard on the door.
Once.
Twice.
She was about to knock once more when the gruff voice coming from inside the room irritably announced, “Come in.”
And so she turned the doorknob and stepped in with a thick folder held firmly in her hands.
She dreaded seeing him again, but she really had no choice. Even if she tried evading it, she always ended up somehow meeting him. It was funny, because it always was the same old person, namely herself, who had to confront this man.
This man who happened to be her mortal enemy.
“President Kim.”
“Oh. It’s you. What do you want?” He answered shortly.Glancing at her for barely a second, he looked back down at the stack of papers on his desk.
His cold, as usual, tone had her wanting to dash out of the room, but she held her feet.
Calm, she repeated again and again in her head.
With a voice she hoped was strong enough, she spoke loudly.
“Ms Park quit. She wanted me to pass this to you.”
The girl quickly relayed the message of Kim Young Min’s ex-secretary, and hurriedly stepped forward to pass the folder to him.
Kim Young Min sighed in annoyance.
“Those useless people,” he muttered under his breath. “Anyway, what is this?”
‘Read it yourself’ was what she wanted to say. But instead, she forced a sweet smile.
“It’s a compilation of potential employees’ profiles. Whoever joins SME, your decision.”
