ღ Chapter Four ღ     Late April   Shanghai was really pretty at night. Well, okay, most big cities were pretty at night with all the lights and sounds. On this particular Friday night, I was sitting at a booth in a high-end restaurant and bar that was located on the 35th floor of a hotel that overlooked the beautiful Shanghai harbor.     Across from me was my personal assistant, Park Jaehyun, who sat down with a low huff.    "Thank god for air conditioning," he muttered, running a hand through his always perfect hair.    I just rolled my eyes, knowing how shallow he sounded. Personally, I was glad too, because it had gotten surprisingly hot for April that week.    A young waitress in uniform stepped up to us with menus, and greeted us warmly. "Would you like to order something to drink first?" she asked.    "We're still waiting for one more person," I told her, handing her my VIP pass. "But uh, yeah. Let's order drinks. I'll have a -"   " strawberry daiquiri," Jaehyun interrupted. "She will have a strawberry daiquiri and I will have a gin and tonic."   I glared at him and crossed my arms as the waitress moved away. "What was that?" I asked.    "Kris hyung told me to keep you away from the alcohol when wedding talk is involved," he reported.   I narrowed my eyes at him. "And since when do you listen to Kris?"   "Since you guys got engaged."   It was ironic, because Jaehyun had been the cause of pretty much the only fight Kris and I have ever had.    It was about 3 years into the relationship when it happened. I had just graduated from business school with my M.Ba and was just starting as a fulltime employee for J&C, at the Shanghai branch. Park Jaehyun, who was a year younger than me, was assigned as my personal assistant because he had been a Chinese major in college and had superior people skills. Jaehyun had also been an ulzzang back in his high school days.    That was also the time that EXO was making a comeback and promoting a new EP. That meant that Kris was always busy, going between Changsha, Beijing, Guangzhou, Dalian, Taipei, and Seoul, while I was stuck in Shanghai. He was stressed, and I was stressed, and the fact that I was accompanied pretty much 24/7 by an ex-ulzzang really didn't help.   The fight that we had was monstrous.
