Chapter sixteen:

IU’s POV:

It was 10pm.

I was still at the food street, although there was no one buying my rice.

I guess I was still in a daze after finding out about Yoseob’s marriage.

I sighed. I had been in the food street long after working hours, reminiscing about how it was like back then when I was working along with Yoseob.

-FLASHBACK-

“What’s wrong?” Kikwang oppa asked.

“No one’s buying the rice.” I sighed again. “Probably a bad day…”

Kikwang oppa suddenly ran up to a woman walking past the stall.

“Annyeonghasaeo miss! You look hungry! Come try our kimchi fried rice! I guarantee it’s good!” He flashed a adorable smile. “And I made it!”

The lady couldn’t resist his aegyo. “Aww…you did? In that case, I’m totally trying it! How much?”

-END OF FLASHBACK-

I couldn’t help giggling. I realized this had been the first time I even cracked a smile ever since I left Seoul.

I sighed.

This is for his own good.

Anyway, you’re fine without him. Life is better in Incheon anyway.

Tchh…Yeah right.

I couldn’t sleep almost every night.

I was tired and miserable all the time.

I sighed again and started packing up.

It’s late. I had to get back. I couldn’t stay here thinking about Yoseob forever.

Actually, I could. Thinking about the memories we had always made me temporarily happy.

Until I came back to reality, that is.

I had to stop this.

He’s getting married tomorrow, it’s over.

I lost.

I’m never getting him back.

So why think about him?

Why torture myself like this?

From now on, work is the only important thing.

That’s probably how I’ll spend the rest of my life, working.

I was on my way back home, when I heard footsteps behind me.

They were really quick, much faster than the speed I was walking.

I was beginning to get slightly nervous.

It was late.

There wasn’t anyone on the streets now.

Aishh…why did I stay at the food street until this late?

Incheon was a dangerous city, where there had been many incidents of robbery, and even kidnap.

Oh my gosh.

Calm down, Ji Eun.

It’s probably just a random stranger walking behind me, big deal.

Stop scaring yourself.

Suddenly, the stranger grabbed my wrist roughly.

I spun around, gasping.

It was a middle-aged man, probably in his forties. He had messy, unkempt hair and a strong build.

He was smiling at me. And I didn’t like that feeling at all.

“Hello, little girl,” He drawled.

I shook his hand off and walked back slowly.

“I’m…I’m warning you…” I stammered. “Stay…stay away…or else….”

The ahjussi grinned, exposing his yellow teeth.

“You’re so cute!” He said, ruffling my hair. I jerked my head back.

“Don’t you hurt me!” I screamed, turning around to run.

The stranger grabbed my arm roughly.

”Hurt you?” He smirked. “Why would I hurt such an adorable girl? No, I’m not going to hurt you, silly, as long as you be a good girl…”

A good girl?

What was he talking about?

“If you come with me quietly to my house and spend the night with me tonight,” He grinned. “No one gets hurt. I’ll treat you well, sweetie. You’ll have the best night of your life!”

“You sicko!” I spat. “You’re a disgrace! Get lost before I…before I…” I tried to shake my arm free. When that didn’t work, I gave him a kick to the stomach. That seemed to do the trick, before he let go of me. I took this chance to run as fast as I could.

Unfortunately, due to my exhaustion and lack of strength, he easily caught up to me.

He pushed me against a wall. The impact was unbearable. I could feel blood trickling down from my head.

“Ughh…” I moaned, totally drained out. Running had already made me exhausted. In addition to this impact…

My vision was blurred.

The ahjussi took this chance to pounce over me

“Get off me…” I groaned as I kicked him weakly. He only scoffed in response.

“We’re going to have so much fun tonight,” he laughed. I kicked him again, but to no avail.

He leaned in to kiss me, but received spit on his face instead.

I was in trouble.

He was furious.

“So,” he snarled. “You want to play rough, eh? Fine!”

He started strangling me.

That pain…it was excruciating.

I couldn’t breathe.

I was suffocating.

Mercifully, he released his grip. I took a huge gulp of air.

Then I started screaming.

He immediately clamped his hand over my mouth and laughed.

“No one can hear you. You’re mine”

He started trying to my top.

“Mmmph!” I struggled, but it was no use. He was too strong.

Somebody, please help me.

Where was my savior?

Right, he was in a totally different city 5 hours from here.

He was going to get married tomorrow.

Yoseob, help me…
