PROLOGUE

FIVE YEARS AGO

She smiled as he handed her the rose. She took it gently. She twirled it around her fingers, missing the adoring look that he gave her.

“Thank you, Jonghyun.”

He smiled at her and took her small hands in his. He brought it to his face and nuzzled them. She blushed at the intimate act and tried to pull away, but this only resulted in him tightening his hold. After a few more failed attempts, she gave up and looked at his face, admiring it.

Jonghyun had always been a handsome guy, she had to admit. Even during their childhood days, he always had that ‘something’ that made him cute and irresistible to everyone. Girls adored him as guys envied and wanted to be him. And what made him more likeable was his attitude and personality. He was basically a good guy with a bad boy appearance. Ironic but true.

How she managed to become close friends with him, she didn’t know. Sure they had almost the same interests, but that was it. In other terms, he was the ‘popular’ one while she was the ‘quiet’ type. She wasn’t unpopular, but she wasn’t exactly the type everyone knew and remembered.

Sensing her gaze on him, he turned to look at her. Her eyes widened as another layer of blush covered her face. She quickly looked away, making him grin. He let go of one of her hands and grabbed her chin. He tilted her face towards him as he leaned in and whispered.

“I love you. Only you.”

She closed her eyes as he tenderly kissed her. After a few moments, he pulled away and hugged her, burying his face on the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent. She wrapped her arms around him as well, liking the feeling of his warm body against the chilly breeze.

“I love you too.”
