The school bell rang showing the school has ended. I was in a hurry because I have promised Yoonhee unnie who is my very best friend to go to the new bakery shop together.

 

It is just a few blocks from our school. Today is the opening of the shop. They will be selling cupcakes at the lowest price so if we don’t hurry up, those lovely cupcakes will be swept away by other people. Yoonhee unnie and me are cupcakes lovers. If we see any cupcakes, we will definitely buy them and eat as if we have never eaten them. They are just too mouth watering with icing on the top and the cake is so moist and the decorations are so….pretty!

So, after I had done packing my things, I turned around, ready to burst out through the back door. Suddenly, BANG!!!

 

The next thing I remembered was I was on the floor, struggling from the pain as I fell on my due to the collision between me and….KIBUM?! oh no! It’s Kibum. Okay…don’t panic.

 

For no reason, I felt like my face was burning. Gosh SooMin. Calm down. He’ll see u.

 

“Are you okay?”

 

Kibum knelt in front of me. His voice was serious.

 

“I-I’m fine,” I said.

 

My voice was trembling as his face was a few inches from mine. I can smell his cologne. Hmm….vanilla. My favourite.

 

Luckily, I woke up to reality. I shook my head trying to forget the thoughts. I was about to get up when suddenly a hand appeared in front of me. I looked up. It was Kibum’s hand. I was shocked and happy at the same time. I hesitated whether to accept his offer or not. I was too shy.

 

Finally, I just threw my shyness away and grabbed his soft hand. I felt like some kind of electric current flowed through my body as I touched his hand.

 

Suddenly, I felt like my face was burning for the second time. I could imagine how red my face was at that time. I tried to cover my face by pretending to wipe the dust on the back of my skirt. Unfortunately, he noticed my face.

 

“ Are you sure you are okay? Your face is all red,” he asked.

 

Minho who was standing beside Kibum just chuckled. Since when he was standing there? Gosh! This is so embrassing.

 

“Yeah. I-I’m fine.” I watched the clock.

 

“ Omo! I’m so late. Yoonhee unnie will be pissed off. I got to go guys. I’m sorry Kibum for my clumsiness just now. Mianhe. Bye Minho,” I waved at them before I grabbed my bag and ran out of the class.

 

“What is wrong with her?” Kibum asked Minho. Minho just shrugged.

Yoonhee unnie was waiting for me at the school gate with her angry face.

 

“Where were you? I have been here for 15 minutes. You know how hot it is? And FYI, if we don’t hurry up like right now, there will be no chance for us to taste those tasty cupcakes,” she said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me away without hearing my explanation why I was being late.

 

Onew and Jonghyun watched us with curious faces as we walked out the school in such a hurry.

 

Onew broke the silence as he spoke, “Where are those two girls going?”

Jonghyun shook his heads showing that he didn’t know either.

 

“They are going to the new bakery store a few blocks from here. You know how crazy they are about cupcakes,” a soft, cute voice came from behind them.

 

They turned around and there he was, Taemin, Yoonhee’s little brother who is now in the first grade.

 

“Aigoo Taemin-ah. My Taemin,” Jonghyun said as he walked towards Taemin and give him a big bear hug.

 

Jonghyun always treats Taemin like Taemin is his own brother since he is the only child in his family.

 

“Anyeong Jonghyun hyung!”Taemin greeted Jonghyun excitedly. He has consider Jonghyun as his own hyung too.

“Yah! Yah! Those are mine."

"NO! MINE!"

"NO! MINE!”

 

Like we have expected. The bakery shop was packed with people. Most of them are ahjummas and a few school girls like us. It was like a war going on in there. We didn’t expect it would be this crowded.

 

They are actually fight each other just to get those cupcakes? What are they? Are they haven’t eat for years? So silly. I know Yoonhee unnie and me are also fanatic and crazy for cupcakes but we are still in our right state of mind.

 

Looking at those people made me giggled, making Yoonhee unnie to look at me with the why-is-she-laughing look.

 

“Yah! Why are you laughing like a crazy person? Is there something on my face?” she rubbed her face clumsily hoping whatever there was on her face will get away.

 

I laughed louder when I saw her expression and said, “ Yeah actually there is. An expression where you are so worry like your face will be ruined by just some stupid dust sticking on your face.”

 

I laughed harder and harder as she started to make her long face. I like when she does that. She looks cuter when she is mad. That is why I like to get on her nerve.

 

After I calmed myself, I asked Yoonhee unnie, “So, do you still want to go in there or want to try our luck again tomorrow?”

“Are you kidding me? There is no way I will go in there. Maybe I will die due to the lack of oxygen if I go in there.”

 

 I burst out a laughter. 

 

“Yeah you are right unnie. Our lives are more important right now. We can come back later although we can’t get the price like today,” I replied.

 

“Right! That is my girl,” she said as she ruffled my hair.

 

“What th-  Hey!! What was that for?” I yelled at her as she made her way to go home. Now my hair was all messy. All thanks to her.

 

I heard she yelled back, “ For lying me about there was something on my face.”

 

She is really something. I smiled. I ran a little bit faster so that I can catch up with her.

That night, I was extremely tired but by the time I was about to get some rest, my mom asked me to go buy some groceries at a shop across the main street. I couldn’t refuse because no one else could go except me. My mom didn’t have the heart to ask my dad because he was just got back from work and my eldest brother was in university. So it's just me without anything to do. I put on my pink hoodie and walked my way to the store.

 

On the way back, I realized it was still early so I decided to stop at a nearby park to get some fresh air. I noticed a wooden bench under a shady tree. I walked there and sat on it.

 

While I was gazing the beautiful stars twinkle above the wide sky, a tall figure appeared, stood in front of me and greeted me.

 

It was Kibum. He looked so cool yet simple in his light purple t-shirt and dark blue jacket. I greeted him back. Then, he came forward and sat next to me.

 

“It is rare to find a beautiful girl like you sitting alone at this hour. I guess I am lucky tonight. What are you doing here anyway?” he asked while looking up at the sky.

 

Aish…. Why it has to be this cold tonight? I wrapped my arms around me, wishing it could warm up my body. I opened my mouth, ready to answer his question when suddenly I sneezed. I was shivering at that time. It was too cold. I was a little bit stunned when I felt something on my shoulder.

 

“Here,” he said, pulling his jacket off and put it around me. “ You might get a cold. This will keep you warm.”

 

“How about you? You are only wearing a t-shirt and it is freezing cold,” I said, sounding a little bit worry.

 

“It's okay. Don’t worry about me. I am used to this kind of cold.”

 

Well, it didn’t bother me much when he said that so I wrapped his jacket tightly around me and answered his question.

 

“I just came here to get some fresh air and watch those pretty stars light up the night sky,”I said while looking up to the starry sky. “ And you? What are you doing here?”

 

“Me? Oh well, I was just passing by this neighbourhood when I saw you sitting here alone. Thought I might come and greet you.”

 

“Ahhhh…How nice of you. Oh and I forgot to apologise to you properly. Sorry about today, Kibum. In the class. I was in a hurry and I didn’t know you were standing there. Mianhe,” I put on my most sorry look.

 

He laughed. “ Calm down. Its okay. No one got hurt right? Plus, you look kind of cute when you are clumsy,” he grinned.

 

At that time, I felt like my heart stopped. WHAT?! Did I hear right? Kibum said I was cute? My face was burning. I felt so hot that I wanted to take off the jacket.

 

“You blush easily, don’t you?”he said and laughed.

 

“Only when I’m with you.”

 

“What was that?” he looked dumbfounded. 

 

Wait! Stop! Did I just say that out loud? What am I going to do? No! I cant tell him the truth. Definitely not.

 

“N-n-nothing. I didn’t say anything,” I replied while looking down at my hand.

 

Damn it. I am at lying. I was so embarrassed  at that time. Then came my savior! My phone rang, saving me from the situation. I answered. 

 

“Yeoboseyo?”

 

It was my umma. She was worried because I wasn’t home yet for almost an hour.

 

After I told her I was at the park with a friend, I hung up the phone and quickly said goodbye to Kibum before I do something embarrassing again. All the way home, I cursed myself for being such an idiot. He must think I’m an idiot.

 

It was already half way when I realized the plastic bag of my groceries wasn’t with me. I remembered I left it at the park. Arghhhhhh…..Why is this happening to me? I walked back to the park and searched for it but my efforts were of no avail. Someone had stole it? Omg! Omma will get mad at me if she knows this.

 

“Looking for this?” a voice came from behind me.

 

 I turned around and saw Kibum was standing a few feet from me, holding the plastic bag of my groceries.

 

“You really are a clumsy girl, you know that?” he said that while laughing at me.

 

I felt like dying at that time. That was so embarrassing. Hearing his laugh made me lost my patience. My anger started to take control of myself. He saw my angry face and stopped laughing instantly. I took the plastic bag roughly from his hand and walked away from the park without saying a word, leaving him in amazement.
