And here she was, on her thirty-four date. This year alone. Her sister, Seulgi. Is going to get married tomorrow with the girlfriend that she’s been with for 8 years. And because of that, her grandmother, keep pushing her to get married. 
 

She remember what she said, clearly. “You’re getting older hyun-ah, i wouldn’t want to see you die alone. And please, get married with someone who’s rich, so you won’t live in that cheap apartment. You’ll be going on a date with one of my friend’s son, you better get ready.”

It’s not like she’s going to die soon, right? But she brushed away the thought. With the way her grandmother pushed her all through out this year, how could she refused? of course, she went out for those dates, but that doesn’t mean she would like them, right? 

Especially, all of her dates were someone who’s wealthy, someone who’s willing to give the comfort life her grandmother has dreamed of. 

But Joohyun, is Joohyun. No matter how she disagreed with her grandmother wishes. She couldn’t say no. So, she just gave it a try.

Her date tonight, a guy called Landon. She met him on an app, just a few days ago. Didn’t know what came over her as she typed a yes on the text. But now, she regret it. 

He’s a gentleman, Joohyun could admit it. He even brought her to a Michelin-starred restaurant, a very posh one indeed. But there’s something missing in him. She needed someone who could give her life. Not the kind that her grandmother wanted,

She took a glanced at the restroom door, it’s still closed. No sight of him, yet.

She took a deep breath as she stare at the food, she had lost her appetite after 30 minutes of listening to Landon talking about how his business are expanding mostly everywhere in this city, he spent most of the date talking about him. All about him. He only asked about Joohyun, a couple of questions then it goes back to him.

“How was the—“ A sudden voice came beside her, but the person didn’t get to finished their question as they locked their eyes to each other. 

Funny how she automatically know the owner of the voice, as if she’s been waiting for the latter to say something. The person was sat next to her table, right beside her.

She’s attractive — short blonde hair, the piercings that shown as she swiped her hair back and even the simple white shirt could only hugs her body perfectly while a leather jacket hang on the chair. 

There’s a something in her that makes Joohyun heart beat faster, is this what love at first sight meant? she wondered. But that’s too soon to judge,

Joohyun breath hitches but she tries to hide it with a cough, “Pardon?”

“Sorry i was just asking how was your date,” she said, not breaking the eye contact as she carefully took the last sip of her wine before placing it down on the table.

No one has ever asked her about the date she went through, this is the first. And the question was asked by this beautiful stranger? How could shes not melt? She gathered herself then answer the question calmly, 

“Oh, it’s good. So far i guess,” Joohyun said simply, “he’s a gentleman, at least.”

She nod, “that’s good to know.”

The stranger’s brown eyes looked richer with the lighting shine under her. Joohyun could only stare at it. And her voice went shallow,

“Well could you share what you thought of him? Since you sit beside us, i’m sure you’d hear some words,” she asked curiously, trying not to stop the conversation, just yet.
