Chapter 3

Majestic

I'm getting ahead of myself. LMAO.

Amber gasped as she sat up in her bed.

"Princess, you're awake? How are you feeling?" Nicole brought Amber a glass of orange juice.

Suddenly Amber could feel her head throbbing. She started pressing her temples. "Why does my head hurt so much?"

"Sweetie, you drank a little too much. I knew it was a bad idea." Nicole shook her head and chuckled. "Here. Take this. It'll help."

Amber nodded and took the aspirin. Nicole grabbed the breakfast off of the counter and brought it back to Amber. "So do you remember anything?"

Amber thought hard. Flashes of the kiss came to mind. Was that real? Or was she just dreaming. But he wouldn't kiss a boy would he. Gosh, she still didn't even know his name. "Unnie, was I a boy when I came back last night?"

"Yeah. Myungsoo helped you back because you were too drunk. Why?

"It's nothing."

Nicole looked at her seriously, and with the same tone asked, "You didn't-- tell the guys, did you?"

"No! I would never!" Amber said as she waved her hands in front of her. "It was just that I had a really weird dream. That's all."

As Amber ate her breakfast, she couldn't stop thinking about the 'dream'. Why did she dream about kissing Myungsoo. She touched her lips with her fingertips. It felt so real. She could vividly remember feeling the hotness of his breath against her skin. Was it real? Did she really kiss him? She then shook the thought away. There's no way that could've happened. Impossible. It had to be a dream. She would never be with a guy like Myungsoo, let alone kiss him.

Myungsoo was laying on the bed, with an arm behind his neck, staring up at the ceiling. He could not stop thinking about the kiss. It plagued him. He replayed the whole confession in his mind over and over again, the kiss even more frequently. He wanted to be with her, more than just friends, if he could even consider them that. It's not like she had the best impression of him. How would he change that. How could he get close to her? Should he just confront her? No. He can't. There must've been a reason for her to pretend to be a boy. And it's not like he could just ask the 'guy' out on a date. Myungsoo furrowed his eyebrows and frowned with frustration.

Woohyun came out of the restroom, wiping his face with a towel. He noticed something was up with Myungsoo. "You okay, man?

Myungsoo didn't respond. Woohyun picked up his pillow and threw it at Myungsoo, causing him to jump up.

"What's going on with you, Myungsoo?"

"This might be too soon to say, but I think I'm in...love."

The two guys stared at each other for a moment. Then Woohyun went to grab some clothes from his closet and headed back to the restroom. Myungsoo just sat there waiting for his friend's response.

From behind the restroom walls Woohyun shouted, "With who?"

"Uh," Myungsoo didn't know whether or not he should tell him. Woohyun popped back out and looked at his friend curiously. Myungsoo then quickly spit out, "This girl I met last night."

"Last night? You were with us last night."

"It was after you guys left. Jo was wasted when the girl appeared. Um, we kissed."

"And?"

"And what?"

"Kiss? That's it? You didn't get further?"

"No."

"What's the big deal about a kiss. You've kissed plenty of girls."

"I know. But it was different with her. I can't stop thinking about it. About her."

"Then why don't you just hook up with her?"

"It's not that simple. There's this guy."

"Since when has a guy been a problem."

"Well, he's sort of my friend."

"Aww. Dude, you know you don't mess with a bro's ho."

"But its not like that. She's not really HIS girl. They're kinda, like, really close. You could almost say they were each other's half. He's really protective of her and I don't think he'd want someone like me with her. I dunno, it's really complicated."

Myungsoo buried his face in the pillow and yelled, hoping to release some frustration. Woohyun felt for his friend. "I don't know  what to tell you, man. Maybe you can hang out with your friend and change their impression of you. Maybe then they'll help you out with the girl."

"I guess that's worth a try."

"I still can't believe that I have a lovesick friend. You're still gonna be my wingman, right?" Woohyun looked at his friend slowly shake his head in disagreement. "You can't be serious. I can't believe you'd actually want to give up this life. There's so many babes, so little time."

"I don't think hooking up with girls every other day is gonna get me any closer to HER."

"Yeah, yeah. Your lost, bro."

Myungsoo was studying in the library. He got up from his seat and made his way over to the microbiology section. After he scanned from top to bottom for a certain book over lactic acid bacteria, he found it and grabbed it. As he was making his way back to the table he was studying at, he noticed someone sitting behind the help desk. He was elated and decided to approach them.

"Is that you, Jo?"

Amber's head perked up from the pile of books she was scanning back in. "Oh, hello--, I mean, what is up, man?"

She seemed unsure about her greeting. Myungsoo laughed in his head as he watched her pretend to be a guy. Is this really what she thinks all guys do? Regardless, he adored it. "Since when do you work in the library?"

"Oh," Amber let out a nervous chuckle as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Nicole thought that this would be a better job for me. It's a lot less hectic."

"That's probably a good idea."

Amber nodded. The two stood there in silence for a moment. It was awkward. Myungsoo didn't know what to say or how to even talk to her. She didn't have much to say to him. Sure she considered him a friend, but she wasn't exactly thrilled to have to hang out and pretend to be erted and what not.

"So..., you doing anything later?" Myungsoo asked trying to fill the void. It didn't really help any.

"Umm, yeah. I already have plans."

"Really? What will you be doing?"

"Umm. I, uh-- I have to study." Clearly that was a lie, a bad one at that. Myungsoo couldn't help but feel somewhat hurt.

"Oh, I see. That's really unfortunate. Umm, I guess I'll talk to you later. Gotta get back to studying." Disheartened, he walked away.

Amber couldn't help but feel guilty. He was hurt, it was written all over his face. "Uh, I'm free tomorrow if you want to, how would you say it, 'hang'?"

Myungsoo's face immediately perked up, but he tried to keep his composure and casually replied, "Cool, cool."

They exchanged another smile before departing.

Several months have passed and Myungsoo and Amber have become much closer. Amber saw Myungsoo as a different person now. It started when he 'randomly' invited her to the traditional theatre. Something he would never dare do with the guys. They talked quite frequently giving her the opportunity to see his sensitive side. She found out that he was quite the intelligent one, on his way to becoming an amazing doctor. He loved the feeling of helping people and the idea of being able to save their lives. She also found out that he secretly volunteered at the clinic near campus. He seemed so different from the guy she met at the club. She didn't understand why he hid this side of him from his friends; it was as if he was living a double life. She laughed at the irony because she was technically in the same situation. Nicole unnie kept on insisting that she liked him, but that couldn't be the case, right? He was just a friend. They were 'bros', nothing more.

Myungsoo was on his way to meet up with Amber. He knew for a fact that he was in love with her. He was sure of it. He wanted to confess to her, but he could never find the right time. Their relationship was becoming platonic and he was afraid that it would remain that way. He could never read her. Myungsoo didn't want her to see him as only a friend; he wanted something more, and that could only happen if she knew he knew about her secret.

As Myungsoo approached the billiard, he saw Amber waiting out front. "Were you waiting long, Jo?"

"No. I just got here, hyung."

"Good. Okay, let's head inside."

The two walked side by side. Myungsoo was slightly slouched forward with both hands in his pockets. Hyung. There's that word again. He hated it. He didn't want to be her 'hyung' anymore. He wanted to tell her, but he couldn't find the words. All he could muster up was, "I still can't believe you've never played pool."

Amber sheepishly chuckled, "Yeah, but that's going to change once you teach me, right?"

"I'm gonna have you hustling people in no time."

The two laughed. When they got inside, they got themselves a table and grabbed a couple of sticks off the wall. Myungsoo proceeded to to teach her everything he knew about pool--like how to rack the balls, what english was, etc.  It was now Amber's turn to put everything she learned to use. She picked up the pool stick and tried to hit the ball, but failed. Myungsoo laughed.

"Here, let me show you." Myungsoo made his way over to her and positioned himself behind her with both arms reaching around her. Amber could feel her face burning. The proximity between his and her body made her tense up. When his hand touched hers on the stick, she swiftly withdrew it and found a way out of the position.

"Uh, I have to use the restroom," she replied without looking him in the face. Her cheeks were flustered with embarassment. She made her way to the restroom, but stopped because she didn't know which one to use. She never used the restroom in public because of her 'situation' so she contemplated the two. She was about to walk towards the ladies room, but got a weird look from the girl walking out. She then turned towards the mens, but halted in terror when she realized that she might see something.

"Aish!" Amber whined as she scratched the back of her head.

"Jo!"

Amber turned to find Myungsoo approaching her. "Oh, hey. Uh, I was--"

"I need to talk to you." Myungsoo interrupted and pulled her into the back alley behind the billiard. Amber was standing near the wall while Myungsoo was in the center looking around to make sure no one was in a hearing distance.

"Why are we out here?"

"I needed to talk to you--, in private. It's too crowded in there."

"Okay. So, what's wrong?"

Myungsoo stepped towards Amber which made her instinctively step back. Her back was against the wall now. Myungsoo continued to close the distance between them. Amber could feel her heart racing. He stopped with his face a foot away from hers. "I like you."

"Uh, I like you, too, hyung." Amber said avoiding any eye contact.

"Jo, look at me."Myungsoo said causing Amber to look into his eyes. After a moment of intense staring, he leaned closer and placed both hands against the wall beside her head. "I mean, I like you more than a friend."

Without notice, Myungsoo pressed his lips against Amber's lips. Her eyes widened in surprise. A shock ran through her, both physically and mentally, but as a couple of more seconds passed, she felts herself melting comfortably into the perfect warmth that he had provided. Slowly, her eyes fluttered shut as she wrapped her hands softly and timidly around his neck, still not knowing what to do, but willing to learn. It felt so pure.

After what seemed like an eternity, Myungsoo broke away from the their kiss. Myungsoo smiled at Amber. Her eyes sparkled knowing that her 'first kiss' wasn't what she had expected it to be. It was something far more spectacular. The feelings dissipated as soon as she remebered that she was pretending to be a boy.

"Um, I don't think that was appropriate, hyung. I--, I'll be going now."

Amber slid out of his barrier and hastily walked away. Myungsoo didn't let her get far. He caught her by the wrist, "Jo, I know that you're a girl."

Amber came to a sudden halt. Did he say that he knew? But how?! Her heart was racing, contemplating what to do next. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Jo, you don't have to pretend with me. I know that you're a girl. I don't care why you're pretending. If you don't want to tell me that's fine. I just know that I like you. Hell. I'm crazy about you. I can't get you out of my mind. I love being around you. And when I'm not, I'm always thinking about ways that I could be with you. I don't want to be your hyung anymore. Jo, will you let me by your boyfriend?"

"Myungsoo...," Amber was still taking everything in. She was speechless. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Was this a dream? Myungsoo knew. He knew that she was a girl. And now he's asking to be her boyfriend. Should she accept? She couldn't. He doesn't know anything about her. It would be wrong for her to drag him into her crazy life.

"Jo, look at me." He pulled her closer and turned her to face him. He looked straight into her eyes. They were filled with uncertainty. "I know my relationship history might scare you, but believe me when I say that I'm pass that. It was a foolish phase. I'm done with playing games. Please, let me show you that you can trust me. That I'll be here for you whenever you need me. You and I have an undeniable connection and I know you feel it too. If I'm wrong and there's nothing, then I'll walk away as if this never happened. But if you feel anything at all for me, anything, then please say 'yes', Jo. Please."

Amber nodded in approval. She wanted to say 'no'. She knew she should have, but his words had her wrapped around his fingers. She felt weak and vulnerable, but that didn't matter because she believed him. She believed that he would be there for her--, that she could trust him. Even more so, she WANTED to be with him. Love makes people do foolish things and within that moment, she willingly became a fool. "Yes."

Myungsoo looked at Amber. Why did 'he' say 'unnie'? Isn't he a guy?

Seriously, I can't stop laughing! You're really something, Mary! xD

Myungsoo was in shock. The moment she confessed that she was a girl, his eyes shot open. He watched as she paritally undressed herself and took off her wig. He was in awe. She was beautiful. His little attraction towards her was now ten times greater. - I'm squealing like a mad girl here!

Amber choked on  the cosmo she had been sipping on and started coughing. Was this guy serious? Where were his manners? How can he talk about women that way? It's degrading. - ROFLMAO

"It's Joseph!" - God, I died xD
