Chapter 5
Share You My Love
It’s almost four in the morning when they finished for the day. Waiting at the entrance of the building, Hyukjae waited for all the staff to hail their cabs first. As the last staff member took a cab, Hyukjae straightened up and decided if he should wait for a cab or call a taxi service. Just when he was about to call, the door opened and a yawning Donghae came out.
“Oh, you’re still here?” Hyukjae was surprised because he hadn’t seen Donghae and thought he was one of the first people who went home as soon as they finished.
“Y-yeah. I fell asleep for a bit when I was copying all the recordings.”
Donghae looked adorable. Hair sticking out to several directions, struggling to fix his lopsided jacket while clutching his duffel bag and laptop, and looking like he’s about to trip every time he takes a step.
Hyukjae chuckled. “Shall I call you a cab? I was about to call for a taxi service.”
“Ah, no. I won’t take a cab.”
“I don’t think there are trains or buses at this hour. Everybody else took a cab.”
“Oh, I brought my car here.”
“A car? I don’t think you’re in any state to drive though?”
“Uhm, I think I can manage. How about you? Manager running late?”
“I was really supposed to go home alone. That’s why I was about to call for a taxi.”
Donghae looked down and fixed the strap of his bag on his shoulder. “W-well, I can drop you off instead. I live near your dorm anyway.”
Hyukjae’s eyebrows rose up along with his heartbeat. Normally he would just turn down the offer. He doesn’t like to burden other people as much as possible. “I don’t want to be a bother.”
“It really isn’t. I live literally just two buildings away from you.”
Hyukjae was still silent and Donghae’s smile dropped. “S-sorry, that was presumptuous. You might not be comfortable riding with a staff.”
Before Hyukjae could think of a response, Donghae swayed a bit but straightened himself just before Hyukjae was able to reach out his hand.
“You’re not fit to drive. How about I drive instead?” Hyukjae offered with a smile.
Donghae answered with his own bright smile. “That’s fine with me.”
They walked towards the parking lot slowly and quietly. Donghae held out his key and a sedan lit up. Not that fancy, but still a nice car. Hyukjae wonders how Donghae is able to afford a car this nice when he’s basically a newbie at work. Surely even if he already leads comebacks, his salary is not that high yet. Hyukjae has also noticed that although Donghae was dressed simply with the sweater-jeans-sneakers combo, everything is nicely branded. Even the outdoor jacket he is wearing now.
He must have come from money then.
They stepped in the car and settled themselves.
“That nap made me feel more tired,” Donghae said as he yawned and put on his seatbelt sluggishly.
“You really look beat. Do you still have work tomorrow?”
“Of course.”
“Can you just go in after noon?”
“Definitely not. It’s a busy season. I have a comeback to prepare after all,” Donghae said, smiling warmly at Hyukjae.
Damn, even looking so tired he still looks very handsome.
Hyukjae covered his reaction with a teasing laugh. “What can I say to that then? Thank you?”
Donghae laughed back. “Then you're welcome, Eunhyuk.”
Hyukjae knows Donghae is teasing him back. And it feels good. “Ah, don’t call me Eunhyuk.”
“Well I thought you were thanking me as a member of SKYE?”
“I’m still Hyukjae though.”
