really, the least you could really do is inform someone if they are your pick or not — instead of just blatantly ignoring their message and just continuously updating your thread.

no need to tell the reason why, just a simple 'we're not able to pick you' would do. we reach out in the first place because  we wanted to help, but a little informing if you don't need any more help is more than enough instead of leaving us hanging.
