Description

hyukjae is perfectly content with his life until he stumbles into a cafe and accidentally falls in love.

featuring shy!cafe owner/worker donghae, confused but trying his best!hyukjae, and a whole set of life circumstances that could've been better, but they're all just trying to make the most of what they have.

genre: romance, light angst, humor??, may qualify as slice of life??

warnings: normal amounts of swearing (including discussion of balls in a purely platonic manner), may add more later

 

listen i haven't written in like 4 years my writing skills have degenerated HORRIFICALLY. this is also not beta read bc we die like men. this is ALSO not completed, because i am an impulsive person and we die like men 

also this is going to be culturally? anachronistic as hell in the sense that it's like very nominally set in korea, but i'm not korean and i'm not super familiar with how day to day life looks so it's going to be borrowing a lot from my (very american) perspective. if it helps we can just pretend it exists in an au city of san franseoulkyo or something idk

the story is (kind of) planned out though, and i'll be updating the tags/characters/warnings/etc. as i write more -- i don't want to have it be like THESE OTHER MEMBERS AND PAIRINGS ARE IN IT when they won't show up for another three chapters at least

Chapter 3: Getting the feeling that even if it's spelled out for him - or Donghae bluntly says "I like you, romantically, wanna date?" - Hyukjae will still remain dense about it. Poor Donghae. Even though Hyukjae isn't conscious of the reasons, he seems drawn to the cafe for more than sugary drinks or a quiet escape. But he's also inadvertently drawn a line between them with the "just a customer" comment. Wonder who will be the one to step across that line. Well, technically Heechul could just have, if Hyukjae wasn't so dazed and stuck on being in the presence of a celebrity...

Chapter 3: oh ho! Protective Heechul makes an appearance. Love protective Heechul especially when it's about baby Hae. Hae suddenly remembering work he has to do whenever he gets flustered or uncomfortable is so cute.

Chapter 2: Donghae already seems like he'd do anything for Hyukjae even though they're still basically strangers, can only imagine how whipped he'd be if they got closer. Though Hyuk seems astoundingly oblivious, and Donghae so flustered and tongue tied. ^^;;

Chapter 2: Awwww. Donghae is so shy but his little crush is obvious. It's also obvious that he's the "too nice" owner of the cafe, who's workers bail on him without notice and is willing to keep the cafe open late just for Hyukjae.
