The rules for underlining are simliar to that of Highlighting.
- Underline to add emphasis on a certain phrase or word.
- Underline the certain words or phrases you'd like the reader to remember. If it is a set of rules, for example, do not underline the entire rule. It takes away the meaning of the underlining, and makes it seem as if it's just a normal part of the font. Usually if you'd like a whole phrase to be remembered you would incorperate different text elements to make it stand out.
- To indicate a header's title.
- Even withing a fan fiction story you can use headers. You can use them to indicate the different time, POVs, places, etc. Underlining them is a good way to inform the reader that there is a change within the story.
