SUMMARY: loosely based on episode 598; In which Mi Young helps her father get back in her mother’s good graces.     Entering their home, 18-year-old Mi Young instantly dropped her bag by the shoe rack and yawned loudly, stretching her arms behind her and cracking her neck. It was a long day at school — curse that damned Calculus subject — and all she wanted to do then was to take a nice long nap before dinner.   As she walked further into the house, she stopped abruptly at the foyer when her mother suddenly stormed out from the living room and all but ran upstairs. Curious, she peeked into the living room and just in time found her father sigh deeply and shake his head.   “Appa?” Mi Young called, so as not to startle the man. “What’s wrong? Did you and eomma fight?”   Jong Kook raised his head up in surprise at the sound of her voice. “Oh, gongju! You’re home!”   “Neh, I just arrived,” she confirmed. “But why was eomma like that?”   “Ah, that? Well…” he scratched the back of his neck. “It was a slight misunderstanding during filming this morning. I thought we were good, but then she remembered it when we got home and got annoyed again.”   Mi Young chuckled. Typical of her A-blooded mother. “It mustn’t have been a slight misunderstanding if she’s this fired up.”   “Well, how was I supposed to know pepper was going to make the ramyeon taste better?”   At this, Mi Young widened her eyes before she proceeded to bellow in laughter. And her aunts and uncles said she was childish!   “Yah, that’s what you’re fighting about?”   “Don’t laugh.” Jong Kook scowled, but his mouth soon turned up into a sheepish smile, watching Mi Young have fun over his expense.   “I’m sorry.” Mi Young wiped underneath her eyelid as if there was a tear. “But appa, didn’t you ever learn that eomma is always right?”   “I did!” Jong Kook protested. “Why do you think you always get a pass even when I see you sneak in more than a handful of junk food when we go grocery shopping?”    “That was eomma’s doing?”   “You know, oppa, we ought to let Mi Young-ie have her fair share of fun! We’ll worry about her health when she’s a bit older!” Jong Kook tried to mimic how Ji Hyo said it to him, pitching his voice higher. He didn’t do a very good job at imitating his wife, but he did a damn well one at making Mi Young laugh even more.   “Ah, you guys are my favorite people in the world,” Mi Young declared as her laugh slowly died down.   “But seriously, gongju,” Jong Kook sobered up and spoke in a pleading voice, “please help me get back into your eomma’s good graces.”   “Mhmm…” Mi Young pretended to think, jokingly. “What do I get in return?”   “Aish. You should stop hanging out with Kwang Soo.”   “All or nothing, appa,” Mi Young said in a sing-song way, “I sense someone sleeping in the dog house with Hotteok tonight!”   “Okay, okay!” Jong Kook held his hands up in mock surrender, playing along his daughter’s little skit. “Name your price.”   “I get to drive the G-Wagon to school until Friday.”   Jong Kook gasped, “My car?! What’s wrong with the sedan we got you?”   “The G-Wagon’s just so cool, appa, and you never let me drive it even though school is like 10 minutes away!” Mi Young defended.   “Just until Wednesday, then.”   “No, Friday!”   “Thursday?”   “Appa, do you want me to remind you it’s all or nothing?”   The father-daughter duo stared straight at each other with no sign of breaking the contact. After a few moments, Jong Kook broke the staring contest and sighed in defeat.   “Alright! I’ll let you borrow the Wagon until Friday,” he finally let up. “Now help me get back into your mother’s good graces!”   Mi Young cheered with a clap before launching herself into the cough adjacent to the loveseat where Jong Kook was sitting, quickly getting into planning how Jong Kook was going to make it up to Ji Hyo.     Mi Young knocked on the door to her parents’ bedroom, slowly opening it in case her mother was asleep. “Eomma?”   Ji Hyo hummed from her place in the bed, so Mi Young took that a sign it was okay to enter. As the younger woman approached the bed, she could see Ji Hyo lying down with an arm over her eyes. Mi Young crawled into the bed and snuggled into her mother’s side.   “You okay, eomma?” Mi Young asked softly.   Ji Hyo hummed again. This time, she removed the arm from her eyes and wrapped it tight around Mi Young. “Gwaenchana, ddal-ah. Just tired.”   “Mhmm, geurae? You didn’t fight with appa at all?”   “Ah, I take it he already told you.”   “Neh,” Mi Young confirmed with a nod. “Appa says he’s sorry. He didn’t mean to believe Dong Hoon samchon’s input first.”   “I know he is, gongju. And I already forgave him.”   “So, why are you still upset?”   “I’m not upset upset,” Ji Hyo denied. “I actually forgot about it, but then I remembered when I saw the ramyeon cup in the kitchen.
