Description

Thanks to Minho, Taemin wins a contest to meet and film a video with his favourite YouTuber, Kibum. Turns out they get along pretty well.

Foreword

Written for Summer of SHINee Round 2

Prompt Summary: Taemin has finally started living by himself. He has worked hard to afford his own place and he is finally enjoying the results of his hard work, together with the challenges his newfound independence entails. One of them is cooking, which he has always been quite the disaster at. He starts browsing the web, looking for a good place to start his learning journey and finds a YouTuber he quite likes: he seems nice, his recipes are very well explained, easy to understand for a beginner and he's quite entertaining too. He soon gets hooked on Key's videos. He's not sure whether he is actually making any improvement in the kitchen, but he is quite certain he has a crush on the guy.

Chapter 1: *standing ovation*

you've written a beautiful, wonderful fic. i loved reading it, every word from start to end, and it's definitely going to be one of those fics i will re-read whenever i'm in a taekey mood. the things i loved about it:

- the characterisation is spot on. taemin is one of those people who is really difficult to write because he's intensely private about his thoughts and ideas, he intentionally lies about things and he's cheeky and earnest at really unexpected times. and you've got that down perfectly, like when avoids messaging kibum and when he asks whether he can kiss him. minho is well-written too, equal parts exasperated and encouraging. and key - i fell in love with your key, so it wasn't difficult at all to see why taemin is in love with him. the bit about key holding his hands to cut the veggies is so ual in an understated way.

- i literally laughed aloud at onion thing and the do you even know how to cut vegetables thing. it's so funny and it's so kibum.

- the pace of the fic is so gentle, but it never feels boring? it was truly so relaxing to read. i never liked cafe aus because i dislike the absence of conflict, but this fic works so well without any major interpersonal conflict that i might have to reconsider my stance.

overall, this is brilliant. thank you for writing this and for putting it up for us to read.

Chapter 1: Wow! First of all, i loved your writing!it was very fluid, even tho there were different parts in the story it didnt feel like it was actually divided- very? Flowy? Aaaaah i truly truly liked this story, a lot lot lot lot!! THE PLANT THING IS SSSSSO ADORABLE, everything was adorable+ funny,, pls minho beimg savage, taem texting '6v6', his horrible cookimg skills [ putting water on boiling oil, i have done thag multiple times yeah]

Chapter 1: This is one of the most amazing fan fics I've ever read. There's just something about the way you wrote the whole thing that made everything flow so smoothly. I didn't feel like I'm reading a story but I'm actually there with them. I was smiling all throughout. This is just the kind of fiction I need right now. The five of them are just how I imagined them to be. I love every detail you put in, from Minho entering the competition for Taemin and the hilarious and cute cooking show to how all five of them got together and the sweet, sweet development of Taemin and Kibum's relationship. Everything was so well-executed. I can't get enough of it. I almost wish this is a chaptered story. Thank you for writing. <3
