Here or there.
Perhaps it had been in passing.
He hadn’t meant anything by it, really, it had just sort of slipped out at one point- or four.
The pediatrics wing was something special. Splashed with bright colours and cartoon characters, with anything that could provide comfort or distraction.
It wasn’t mandatory, never mandatory, but it was a nice gesture, one the entirety of the staff had been complying with, the unwritten rule.
Well, except for one.
Jaejoong looked nice in blue. He looked charming in green, and somehow he managed to make the salmon coloured scrubs only ever donned by a few of the ladies in the maternity wing look good. But in pediatrics, they tended to aim for something more child friendly.
Disney, Pixar, Ghibli, fabrics donning different desserts or cute animals.
It would have been nice if Jaejoong would comply with such unwritten rules, nicer if he hadn’t had to tell him. Accidentally, four times.
He may have also accidentally volunteered to dress the man himself, but only if he needed a hand.
Afterwards he had definitely knocked his head into a locker door, the words hadn’t come out right.
Whether it was his preference or not, he was probably being unreasonable. Jaejoong bounced from pediatrics to the surgeons’ floor frequently throughout the day, changing that often would just take precious time from their patients.
Damn if it all didn’t disappoint him anyway.
Why did he want to see Jaejoong in ridiculous scrubs? Why had he thought for a little bit too long about the two of them matching...
