Hongjoong was running. His chest was heaving as he body which harbored gashed and wounds threatened to break down. The Glock at his side set with bullets with those special linings. His worn combat boots with the gravel ground. Fumes as thick as smoke and just as vile wafed around his nose. It was choking as he closed his mouth and nose with a black filter mask. His eyes burned as the smog coiled into his vision, but he blinked away the tears and ran.ย

ย The year was 3036. Five years ago, scientists unpurposely made a man-made virus while trying to find a cure for cancer. Hongjoong didnโ€™t know had one can up that badly, to result in causing another deadly pandemic. This Virus was a physical threat, as it took the embodiment of a monster. It was a thick, solid black goop that looked quite similar to an octopus. But itโ€™s slime was like acid to the human skin. It could give you severe burns. These monsters struck fast and the death rate was when caught by these monsters was practically 100%. And when caught by these monsters, they latch onto you and extract their vile poison with their beaks. Then, in a matter of a few minutes youโ€™d be dead.ย

The worst part is what they do to a corpse. Now with a new human host with the virus in its body, the Virus attacks your cells and continues to make replicas of their own poisonous DNA with your supplies that your body had made. So eventually that human will become another monster.ย  This happens within 5 minutes.ย

ย This virus seems to have the hostile mindset to destroy, and they did just that. They ravaged the earth and killed people. The earth was like a glass of water. Crystal clear and perfect. The keyword being was. Until you let that droplet of ink overrun the water. Then when it became tainted it was tainted, and there's no way to redo or go back.

Millions and Millions of citizens were killed, Seoul taking the heaviest hit. The earth had transformed into this polluted and destroyed place. Buildings were crushed, causing massive spills. The sky was no longer blue, but a hazy red with thick shoals of black clouds. There was no longer even day and night, but simply always a darkened place. The earth looked like it was burnt to a crisp. The ground was covered in the bones of buildings, rubble from concrete sat in lumps.ย

Hongjoong was among the very very rare who had managed to find a sanctuary to hide from the monstrosity of a virus. Hongjoong had probably hadnโ€™t seen another being in five years. He hardly talked, so he doubted his vocal cords were even usable. But it wasnโ€™t good enough. His under tunnel vault had been found and now he was on the run.ย

Hongjoong remember how life was before it happened. Before the Virus struck. When the world wasn't set aflame.ย

He was the only child. He was happy and pure and most of all. Safe. He was safe. He was safe in the touch of his motherโ€™s hands. Safely nestled away from the world. Buried by the kisses of love. Everything was ethereal. His entire body was thoroughly touched with passion of simply living.

But those happy few years of Hongjoong's life proved to only be the eye of the storm, as the worst was yet to come.ย

Hongjoong was sitting among the daffodils. He was maybe seven at the time. He was a scrawny little thing, always wearing large jackets or shirts that swallowed his body and large jean shorts that came to his knobby knees. His family was middle class, not surrounded by riches but fortunate enough to have a house. The sweet scent of honey wafed from the flowers as the little boy giggled when a moth landed on his thigh. A ladybug wove itโ€™s way through and through his fingers. Nothing else in the world mattered to Hongjoong other than him and his flowers.ย

Hongjoongโ€™s mother strode through the long grasses to reach her son who was giggling to himself, murmuring sweet nothings into the soft petals. She gazed sweetly to her son as she scooped him up and into the air. Hongjoong shrieked in excitement as his mother giggled into her babyโ€™s cheek.ย

โ€œHongjoong baby what are you doing with the flowers?โ€ his mother crooned in her melodic soft voice that seemed to be like honey in the ears. She sat down on the field of flowers, legs folded underneath her upper thighs. She laid her sonโ€™s head onto her thighs as she leaned over him, peppering kisses on his forehead. His mother was a soft woman, stunningly beautiful and slender. She had long black hair that came down to her waist and ofte
