THE MEMORY
Description
“Mrs. Kwon? Mrs. Kwon? Can you hear me?” Sooyeon heard a voice calling for her.
She opened her eyes slowly. A bright light hit her eyes. She scrunched her eyes again.
“Where am I?”
“Mrs. Kwon, you had an accident last month. You were in a coma for 27 days.”
Sooyeon massaged her forehead before opening her eyes again. She looked at the doctor and nurses.
“Where’s my husband?” Sooyeon asked in a croaky voice.
A nurse helped Sooyeon to drink some water. Sooyeon obliged though hurt so much.
“Don’t worry about Mr. Kwon. He has regain his consciousness 3 weeks ago. I already informed him about your condition.” The doctor told the nurse to observe Sooyeon’s IV drip.
Sooyeon thanked the doctor after the doctor made some explanation. Sooyeon looked at the tag she wore at her wrist. ‘Kwon Sooyeon – 12/01/20’. Sooyeon thanked the nurse when she was served with a glass of milk. Sooyeon sat up slowly and drank slowly. A blurry images flashed through her mind and she remembered what had happen then.
They were driving back from the supermarket, buying their groceries when a car suddenly hit their car from behind. Yul lost control of the steering, resulting in a crash. Sooyeon massaged her head. A dull pain appeared and she took a deep breath.
“Sooyeon.” Sooyeon looked up and saw Yul at the door.
He was wearing a grey suit, complete with a black tie. Sooyeon examined her husband. Yul had his hair pushed to the back. He was wearing a watch and he also had an earpiece at his ear.
“Yul?” Sooyeon sort of question the odd image Yul is showing rather than greeting back her husband.
“The doctor called earlier…how are you feeling right now?” Yul stepped into the room and closed the door.
“I’m having a headache at the moment and you looking like that is not helping.” Sooyeon answered with a chuckle but Yul didn’t retaliate to the joke.
“Sooyeon…how do I say this…did the doctor tell you anything?”
“Just that I was in a coma…how about you? You were in a coma too right?” Sooyeon watched the man as he took a chair and sat beside her bed.
“Yes I was and something happened to me.”
“What is it?”
“I lost some part of my memory. I don’t remember you at all.”
Sooyeon heart suddenly felt heavy. A rush of blood ran through her head. Their eyes duel.
“I don’t even remember that I am married to you.”
