Changkyun went inside his room feeling more tired than usual, he threw his bag somewhere in the room and flopped down on his bed stared at the ceiling blankly. The nowuniversity student guy sighed deeply thinkingwhat was wrong with his life why he felt so uneasy that week. Piles of tasks? Lack of sleep? Lack of nutrition? To be honestif his dad knew he didn’t eat meal 3 times a day like he supposed to, he definitely will get murdered, thinking of his dad antics suddenly made him let out a small laugh. Changkyun took another deep breath before he stood up from the bed moving to his computer to play game, he knew he had more important stuffsto do but at the same time he knew doing those assignments with messymind wouldn’t get him anywhere,until the phone suddenly rang

“Appa?” Changkyun said the moment he picked up his call

“Hmmm Changkyun-ah, how are you?” Hyunwoo asked from the other side

“I’m good, what’s up with the random call?” Changkyun switched off his computer and walked to his bed suddenly not interested with the game

“Oh, I saw your missed call, I thought you want to talk to me?”

“Ah… it’s just –“ Changkyun could hear his dad’s voice suddenly cut the conversation he had with his appa

“Is that Changkyunnie on the line?” Kihyun asked Hyunwoo

“Yup it’s Changkyun, Changkyun-ah, Kihyunnie wants to speak to you” and after that Changkyun heard rustling voice over the other side before his dad took over the phone

“Changkyunnie!” Kihyun shouted from the other side

“Yesdad?” Changkyun tried his best not to laugh over how excited his dad was

“Listen! Your brother! Son Jooheon! I asked him to send my bag for laundry and he just did the laundry by himself now it is ruined!” Kihyun whined to his youngest son

“It’s ok dad, you can just ask appafor a new one” Changkyun laughed when Kihyun mumbling ‘your appadoesn’t have sense, I will just have to steal his card again’ 

“What are you doing now? Have you eaten?” Kihyun asked and before Changkyun could reply he continued his nag “You haven’t eaten right? What did I tell you about the importance of food? What if you get sick huh?”

“I –“ Changkyun was about to answer when again Kihyun cut him off

“I bet you are busy with your assignment too these days, but try to get some rest ok? If you feel stressed, you can always ask your appaor me for any suggestion”

“Dad, I –“

“Do you still have my kimchi inside your fridge? Or do you want me to send more? Is there any food you are craving for? Don’t eat too much instant noodle ok? You need to eat healthily so you can concentrate more” 

“Dad, I’m fine” Changkyun said quickly but rather coldly to his dad

“Oh – that’s great I guess, I’m… I…” Kihyun suddenly went speechless and Changkyun felt guilty

“Are you busy now son? Do you want us to call you back again another day?” Hyunwoo asked to cut off the awkward atmosphere

“No, no it’s fine” Changkyun took a deep breath before he finally let out his real feelings “I’m not doing anything right now, and you are right dad, I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast – Wait don’t say anything first!” Changkyun immediately said when Kihyun shouted ‘I KNEW IT!’ “I just feel a little bit empty just now, I guess I miss home, so thank you dad for asking me about everything, but I’m fine now, I only left one container of your kimchi can you send me again by next week?”

“Awwww… my baby, we miss you too” Changkyun didn’t even need to see his parents tofeel that his dad’s eyes were teary, and he could feel his eyes were teary too – God, did he really miss home that much? “Everything will be fine ok? Remember we both and your brother always be here to support you, and no matter what happen, you will always be the baby I’m proud of” Changkyun could imagine his dad was saying that while leaning down his head on his appa’sbroad shoulder, silently wiping the tears he shed, after that the conversation continued lightly, even when they were away from each other it felt like Changkyun was back at home again, with his parents, his brother, the people who will continue to support him no matter what will happen in the future and it felt like the time turned back to the old days when he was just a kid, when his dad would nag at everyone but would end up with laugh, his dad who couldn’t say mad for so long and would protect him and his brother whenever the rarely angry appabut once he exploded it was worse than hell. He loves his family so much and will continue to do so.

“It’s already late, why don’t you go wash up and sleep? Don’t play game!” Kihyun said sternly when Changkyun yawned

“Yeah, I guess I’m going to bed now, good nightdad, appa” Changkyun said before he yawned again 

“Good nightChangkyunnie, rest well I will send you more book references tomorrow” Hyunwoo said

“Thanks, appa” Changkyun said before he stood up from his bed getting ready to close of the day

“Changkyunnie” Kihyun said suddenly

“Yesdad?”

“We love you baby, sleep well ok” Changkyun smiled and he could feel the rest of the heaviness inside his chest was lifted up. He was right. He missed home.
