“I’m sorry seungwan.. everyone’s taken” seulgi checks her client’s list again, looking at her friend nod then sulk in the end of the sofa

“there’s another job though.. but you need to be careful and sadly, the pay is kinda low so you need to work double to earn as much as before” seungwan held her head high to look at her friend with hope in her eyes

“I’ll take it” she finally released her smile that seulgi’s been missing for a week

She’s only been working at the Sun’s Cafe for five days but she feels like all her energy is being drained because of her daily overtime. Seulgi explained that it’s because of her current status in the country that’s why the owner took advantage of it, giving her a low pay.

Joohyun drives slowly looking for a place for her breakfast. Ever since she fired her helper, she eats outside or call for food delivery. She almost tried every restaurant google suggested her for a good breakfast so this morning she’ll go for pastries and entered a coffee shop

“Good morning” a young looking lady greets her behind the counter, she ordered sandwich, a slice of cake and hot chocolate. She was told to wait in her table as they prepare the food, and the cashier girl apologized in advance that it might take long because they are short in staff as of the moment.

“Seungwan! What’s taking you so long?” Joohyun’s head immediately glances at the girl who took her order earlier, typing in her phone then to the girl rushing out of the kitchen to prepare a drink. She ponders if she should leave the place because it would be awkward when seungwan delivers her food

“Hurry.. you’re so slow” the cashier’s voice sounded again and before she knew it, seungwan walks to her table placing her orders one by one on the table. The girl still on a rush that she failed to recognize that the customer is her former employer.

Joohyun starts her meal, glancing whenever the younger walks near her.

“she won’t make it to her first class” she mumbles, waiting for the girl to leave the cafe first

“are you sure you’ll take the night shift later?” a girl asks while taking the apron from seungwan

“of course unnie, need that extra income” she cheerfully assures the girl

“see you later” she bids goodbye before running to the door

Joohyun heaved a guilty sigh

“she need money that bad?”

She’s aware that she was childish and unreasonable for putting all her frustrations on seungwan, the innocent girl who only wanted to help. She haven’t properly thanked the younger for taking care of her when she was sick and now she’s the reason why the girl is having a hard time.

After her night shift, seungwan walks to the bus stop to head to myeongdong for her cleaning job. Her sleepy eyes widen when she see police officers walking to her direction

“seungwan?” a voice startles her, face turning pale

“are you okay? Need a ride?” seungwan stares at joohyun inside the car, thinking hard of her next move. When the officers almost reach the stop, she nervously opens the door of joohyun’s car

“what’s wrong? you look pale” Joohyun follows the younger’s line of sight

“I-I’m fine unnie.. L-let’s go?” the older’s brow scrunched at seungwan’s behavior

“myeongdong huh?” joohyun repeats when she asked where the younger is heading

“I noticed you were scared at the officers back in the bus stop” seungwan chokes on her drink, gasping for air

“Did you.. perhaps..”  she trailed, turning into a corner and parks on the side

“did something bad? Something against the law?” she asks with a frown forming in her beautiful face

“w-what?” seungwan freaks out, laughing nervously

“what are you talking about unnie.. N-no.. I-It’s not like that..” seungwan says softly, fidgeting on the passenger’s seat

“I may not have the authority now, but you used to be my employee so at least tell me what’s wrong” joohyun asks calmly and waited patiently for the younger’s reply

“I.. I’m illegally working here unnie.. I’m here with a student visa.. s-so I have to be extra careful while working in public” Joohyun nods, listening to seungwan’s explanations

“seungwan, I’m sorry” Seungwan turns her head instantly hearing joohyun’s low voice

“If I didn’t acted the way I did, you won’t have a hard time now” seungwan has mixed emotions, happy that the older finally admits her mistake but worried as well knowing how much pride the older let down just to apologize to her.

“unnie, thank you.. for everything..” seungwan bravely reaches her hand to touch the older’s hand, squeezing it gently

“we may not be considered friends now.. but please remember that I’m always here for you”

They shared comforting smile before joohyun drives the younger to her client's house.

“So.. the lion became your friend and she h
