THREE

All At Once

If there was one word to describe Samantha's first week at the YG Headquarters Building, it would be 'FIRE-HOSE'. Every day had been filled with hours upon hours of new material; whenever she was confident she'd gotten one dance down, there was always another one to begin learning the second the old one finished. She'd underestimated how much there was to learn- Winner had been an active group for the last four years, they'd put out numerous albums and singles in that time and each one of them needed to be accounted for. It seeemed as though the learning would never end, even when they finished for the day and everyone went home.

She'd taken to spending at least 2 extra hours after everyone had left to go over the day's choreagraphy on her own, staring herself down in the mirror as she moved. She made sure her steps were tight and in tune with the beat of the song, and also that she wasn't moving around the floor too much. It was going to be different for her, dancing among an actual group. Her job as a back up dancer was to simply fill the space she was given; her movements couldn't stick out and she'd need to avoid running into others. It sounded simple, but she knew when they finally got together with the men they'd be dancing alongside for the tour, it would prove to be a bit more of a challenge. Everyone moved differently, and they would have to get used to sharing their space.

Friday came faster than she'd expected, and she could honestly say she felt a bit nerovus as she entered the practice room. She greeted everyone with a polite bow and smile, before setting her bag down and beginning her usual routine of stretching. She'd decided on a simple pair of joggers and a cropped red sweater, long sleeved of course. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she'd decided to go make up free like most days. However, she'd noticed that the other girls had differed in their wardrobe choices. They were all wearing tight spandex shorts and cropped tank tops, makeup freshly but naturaly done and their hair down. They giggled amongst themselves as they stretched, gossipping like school girls.

"Do you think they'll invite us out for drinks after this?" Sunhwa asked with a giddy smile as she practiced her splits, her speciality. "I heard from other dancers that everyone get's really close on tour."

Yeri swatted the other girl's leg. "Yah, don't even think about it. I heard last time there was a huge scandal when Big Bang got really close with their dancers- Taeyang brought one of the girls back to his house and they got caught in the act. She had to leave the company!"

"She just said drinks!" HaeRin laughed in response. "You're being so overdramatic right now. Besides, none of us have ever even reslly interacted with any of them. They could be douchebags for all we know. Let's hope not, it could be a longgg tour if they are."

Samantha smiled as she overheard their conversation. She too had never actually met any of the men from Winner, nor had she had a conversation with them. She'd heard some of their music- before she'd had to learn it all, of course- and was a fan of a few songs. Other than that, she was as clueless about them as she could get. They seemed nice enough, but outward images could be deceiving. Especially when it came to idols and their images.

The entire group was finishing up their stretching when a knock sounded on the door, gathering everyone's attention. They all stood up and clustered into a small group as the door opened and in stepped a man in his late twenties, followed by the four men everyone had been waiting for: Winner. They looked as though they'd just finished a schedule; they still wore their makeup and were dressed in clothes a bit too fancy for a simple dance practice. Samantha couldn't help but admit that they were handsome looking men, as she was sure the other females were thinking.

"Good morning, sorry we're a bit late. I'm Winner's manager, Uhm DoYoung. The next few weeks we'll be working closely together." The man in his late twenties said with a firendly smile. "If there's anything you need in regards to the boys, please don't be afriad to ask me."

Taehwan took the lead and spoke up for the group of dancers. "I'll be the lead dancer on the tour this time around, and the one who will be running the practices for the next few weeks up until the first show. I hope that we can all work well together and put on a great tour this year. Please take care of us." With that, all the dancers bowed to which the Winner responded in the same fashion. "I'd like to go ahead and dive straight into the practice, if that's alright with you. Since it is our first time working together, I think it would be good for us to watch you dance and see what your styles are like. Then we can match up and get a feel for how we're going to move around the stage."

"Sounds good to me," Mino was the first of them to speak, shrugging out of his denim jacket and fixing his t-shirt. "Any song preference?"

"Ladies choice," Seungyoon suggested with a smile as he and the other three walked to the middle of the room.

Yeri was the first to speak up, her voice almost a little too excited for comfortability as she called out her favorite song. "EVERYDAY!" She blushed as she realized how loud she'd been, and everyone chuckled a bit as the boys took their places for the start of the song.

"Samantha, would you mind going through the playlist?" Taehwan asked, to which she simply nodded and stepped over towards the stereo system. She scrolled through the list of songs before landing on the one she was looking for, and after pressing the play button she joined the other on the floor infront of the mirrors, getting an unobstructed view of the four men as they began to move to the opening noters of their latest song.

It was always amazing to see how artists moved around the floor, they simply had an air to them that was on a completely unaccesible level. While dancers moved in concise, tight movements, the four men who'd taken the country by storm moved with their own senses of style. While Mino tended to deviate from the choreography and do whatever the music made his body feel, Seunghoon made this moves his own and added his own flare to them as if he himself had made the dance. Seungyoon moved with an intensity that could capture a room, striking all the crucial points all the while singing as if he were performing live at that very moment. But the one who caught Samantha's eyes the most, was Jinwoo. He moved with a grace that made the dance seem to flow in slow motion. While he was definitely a concise dancer, his lines of movement were languid. It reminded her of when she used to dance in her teenage years. In her mind, he would have made a great contemporary dancer.

She hadn't realized she'd been staring at him, eyes slightly furrowed, until the song had come to an end and everybody clapped loudly, snapping her out of her thoughts. She joined the group in applauding the performance, before climbing to her feet and crossing the room to stop the stereo before it played another song.

"I think we're going to have a really good match up this time around," Taehwan said with a happy smile as he began looking back and forth between the boys and the girls. "Why don't we try out one song as a whole and work from there. The song that needs the most practice is going to be 'Really Really' and with the first show only two weeks away I want to make sure we put as much time into that song as possible. Everyone on the floor!"

Yeri, Sunhwa, HaeRin, HyeJin, and Samantha took the floor shyly, not knowing exactly where to stand. Naturally, Samantha gravitated towards the back and stood with her hands politely clasped in front of her, silent. She knew that eventually TaeHwan would point them to their permanent positions for the starting sequence, so until then she would just stay quiet and-

"Hi."

She almost hadn't heard the greeting, having been too wrapped up in her own thoughts. But when she realized someone was indeed talking to her, her head turned to the left and met a pair of amber irises that seemed to melt her instantly with kindness. Jinwoo looked at her with a small smile, his hand outstretched with the other on his elbow, attempting to greet her. He'd noticed her at first when she'd gotten up to turn on the music for them to dance to, and deduced that she seemed a bit on the quiet side- maybe she was shy and didn't know what to say. She was dressed differently than the other girls, opting for a more sensible and comfortable style than the over-exuding iness of her corworkers. He liked that, coming in contact with someone who didn't see the need to try to appeal to them when they were supposed to be working. But make no mistake, he thought she was beautiful; YG dancers always were, but for some reason her dark brown eyes and the naturalness of her makeup seemed to resonate with him more than he was comfortable enough to admit. So when she'd come and stood at the back of the group, unknowingly next to him since she'd been in her own world, he unexpectedly found himself greeting her before his mind could even register what his body was doing.

Samantha mentally kicked herself before she too reached out her hand in the same manner, letting his palm rest lightly against his as they shook and bowed a quick 45 degrees. He didn't try to crush her hand in his grip, but instead held it with a gentle firmness in his own. She was surprised to find that his hands were actually quite rough, a constrast to the softness of his facial features.

"I look forward to working together," He spoke again, their hands still joined as he realized she still hadn't said anything back. His voice was light and smoot, slightly higher pitched than a normal male tone but pleasing nonetheless. It translated to his singing voice as well, she mused.

"Yes, please take care of me well." She responded, and she saw his smile grow a tad bit bigger, which made her eyes flit to his lips for a nano second before they sprung back up to his eyes. And with that, she felt his hand let go of hers, and the simply stood a polite distance away from each other with nothing more to say. Their greeting was over, and it seemed neither knew what quite to say next. But their moment of hesitation was cut short when they both heard Taehwan call Samantha's name from the front of the room.

"Samantha, stay where you are. We'll pair you up with Jinwoo for now and see how it goes."

If only she'd known then how much that moment was the turning point in her life.
