A Brother's Love
The next day, as he promised, he helped her make up the choreography for her new single. Aside from singing, he was a good dancer too, in fact he was most confident with his dancing skills. He was also good in rap.
“So you sway your hips like this, and then stomp, 2, 3, and turn to the left” Hoya instructed as he showed her the choreography
“Sway, stomp, 2, wah!!” Kriesha stopped in her tracks as the power went out.
The room was pitch black, no light could get in because the blinds were blocking it. And there was no music, the room was soundproof so that the people in the other rooms wouldn’t get disturbed if someone was practicing, so the silence was deafening. All they could hear were their breaths. When the lights went back on Kriesha realized she was clutching on to Hoya’s arm, and if she was any closer she would’ve heard his heartbeat. After a moment of awkward silence, she let go and fanned herself with her hands.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to” she muttered
He smiled and said “It’s okay”
“I’m not scared of the dark, I was just surprised” she defended
“Okay, whatever you say” he teased
But then the lights flickered and something went BANG! then the lights went out again, making her scream like a dolphin and this time hugging him as if her life depended on him. Instinctively, Hoya’s arms wrapped around her and even he felt a bit creeped out.
“We should head out and see what’s wrong” -Hoya
He removed her arms from his waist and interlocked his fingers with hers. Then he lead her out of the room and they walked along the corridors of the building. It felt as if they were in a horror movie, the atmosphere was eerie and it seemed like they were the only persons in the building.
“Oppa, I’m scared” – Kriesha’s knees were shaking
“It’s okay, I’m here” – Hoya
As they got to the staircase they could see the silhouette of a man coming up from the stairs. As the figure got closer they could see that he was holding something long and slender. Kriesha’s imagination went wild and she hid behind him.
“Who’s there?” Hoya called out
“Oh there’s someone here? Ah, I’m sorry sir. There was a problem with the generator, everyone is at the open grounds” It was the maintenance staff.
“Ahh, is that so?” – Hoya
“Everyone was at lunchbreak, did you two not eat lunch?” – Maintenance Staff
“No, we didn’t notice the time. We were practicing at the 3rd floor” – Hoya
“Well, you two should go and eat something. It’s not good for artists to practice with an empty stomach. Go and eat while we fix the generator” – Maintenance Staff
“Okay, thank you.” – Hoya bowed his head
When they got outside Hoya couldn’t help but snicker “Not afraid of the dark huh?”
“Don’t laugh at me!” – Kriesha
But that just made him burst out laughing. She was just too cute, he couldn’t help it. He wouldn’t stop laughing even if she hit his arm.
“Yah, yah! Stop flirting like that so openly, don’t you feel sorry for those who don’t have anyone to flirt with?” – Minju
“Minju! He’s laughing at me!” – Kriesha pouted
“She’s scared of the dark, hahaha! 20 years old and still scared of the dark” – Hoya
“Yah! Quit it!” – Kriesha
“Alright, alright I’ll stop” – Hoya
He was definitely going to about it whenever he can. She looks so cute when she’s pouting, scared, or even pissed.
“So you guys were on the 3rd floor when the power went out?” – Minju said before munching on a piece of bread
“Yeah” – Kriesha
Just as the power comes back on, the cafeteria’s LCD T.V turns on and shows a group’s performance on Music Bank. Then Hoya gets a call before he can get a glimpse of which group is performing. He excuses himself and takes the call.
“Wow, Highlight is really amazing. Their performance is top notch” – Minju
Kriesha just stares at the screen with admiration.
“Oppa, someday I will be as famous as you. I will get to perform with you onstage and it will be the happiest moment of my life” Kriesha smiles as she looks at her brother.
“Kriesha, who’s your bias in Highlight?” – Minju
“Yong Junhyung” – Kriesha proudly says
At the sound of his name Hoya turns around, looks at the screen, and frowns. His heartbeat doubles up and his hands subconsciously form a fist.
“Oppa, you okay?” – Kriesha
Seeing her face Hoya’s facial muscles relax and he manages to fake a smile. “Yeah, I’m fine”
“Your coffee is getting cold” – Kriesha
“Hoya sunbae, what’s your favorite Kpop group?” – Minju
“Infinite” – Hoya
Then it was Kriesha’s turn to get a call. When she sees who the caller is, a smile spreads across her face.
“Oppa!” She greets
[How’s my favorite sister?]
“I’m doing great”
[Did you see my performance?]
“Just halfway through it, the power just got back”
[Oh? You must’ve been scared, hahaha!]
“Not so much, I was with a friend. Hehehe!”
[Hmm, was that a guy by any chance?]
“Mmmm….”
[I’m guessing that’s a yes]
Kriesha laughs
[Hey, you’re still not allowed to have a boyfriend]
“Ahh waeyo??” she says cutely
[Because you can’t love anyone more than you love me]
“Aigoo, is that what you’re worried about? You’re so silly. I will always love you the most”
[Really? How much do you love me?]
“Imankeum! Imankeum! Imankeum! Imankeum! Naega noreul saranghae!” Kriesha sang with matching heart fingers
“I didn’t know she had a boyfriend?” – Minju said in a low voice
Hoya’s heart sank.
[waah! I just died of cuteness overload! I love you too sis! – Junhyung
‘Yah! Junhyung-ah, it’s time for the encore’ – Yoseob from afar
Gotta go, see you soon! – Junhyung]
“Okay, love you! Bye!” – Kriesha
[Love you, bye bye – Junhyung presses the end call button but misses, so she can still hear him.
And you wonder why girls think you have a girlfriend, it’s because you’re too sweet to your sister! – Gikwang
Do people even know you have a sister? – Doojoon]
Realizing that he obviously missed the end call button Kriesha ends the call herself. Then she realizes that Minju and Hoya are both staring at her.
“What?” – Kriesha
“I thought we were best friends. How come you didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend?” – Minju
Kriesha’s eyes widened and she turns to Hoya “I don’t have a boyfriend!”
“Then who was that?” – Minju
“My brother” – Kriesha
Hoya silently released a sigh of relief.
“You have a brother?!” – Minju
“The one you told me about? The kpop idol?” – Hoya
“Yeah” – Kriesha
“You have a brother in the same industry?! How come you never told me?!” – Minju
“I can’t reveal who he is because if people found out about us, people might put more pressure on me. I also don’t want to use his name to promote myself. I want to succeed using my own efforts. I don’t want to be famous for being another idol’s little sister” – Kriesha
“Ohh, that’s so honorable. You’re very inspirational. I wish I had a brother in the kpop industry, that kind of connection is too useful to waste” – Minju
“I think it’s a brave decision. Very commendable” – Hoya
“Thanks” – Kriesha
“Is he in a group? Or is he a soloist? Can you give me a clue?” – Minju
“Sorry, no can do” – Kriesha
