Lost Sheep
Sunbae (hiatus)"Hey everyone," Myungsoo said as he gazed out at the crowd. For some reason, Sungyeol felt like Myungsoo's gaze lingered for a few seconds on him before looking at the rest of the students. Does he recognize me from this morning? Somehow he wished that Myungsoo would indeed recognize him.
"I'm happy you're all here, and I welcome you to our faculty. I'm Kim Myungsoo, a second year here, and I'll be giving you a guide around the campus today."
All eyes were on Myungsoo as he spoke confidently and without hesitation to the two hundred or so students staring at him. Sungyeol looked over at Woohyun and saw that he too was staring at Myungsoo with what seemed like deep respect. Sunggyu, on the other hand, was glancing at Woohyun with something that looked to Sungyeol to be a mixture of anger and worry. I wonder what he's so upset about.
"We'll first head to the cafeteria, as I assume this will be just as much of a hot spot for you as it is for me," Myungsoo went on. "So please follow me."
The black-haired signaled for everyone to stand and follow him, and without another glance, he turned around and walked out one of the side doors. Students hurriedly rose to follow, grabbing their bags and phones in seconds. I guess he never looks behind to check whether people follow him or not, Sungyeol thought to himself as he also grabbed his backpack.
"Come on, hyung, we have to hurry," Woohyun whined, looking unhappily at the not-yet-moving Sunggyu. "We'll miss the tour!"
"Go ahead if you're so worried," Sunggyu grumbled, but he started to pack his things anyway.
The three all followed the crowd, making their way across the campus. All the while, Myungsoo walked ahead with quick steps, not looking back even once to see whether they were following. It's like he knows we'll follow him. He's confident that we'll follow him. Sungyeol couldn't help but think that Myungsoo seemed cool. There was just something about the sunbae that radiated confidence. So unlike me...
Myungsoo suddenly stopped in front of a large, red, building. "And here we are," he declared. "The cafeteria. The cheapest place to eat, and the food isn't all too bad either." The girls giggled and smiled at the older's joke, giving him looks that to Sungyeol looked like predators watching their prey.
"Go ahead and take a look inside, and while you do that I'll take a 5 out here," Myungsoo finished and pointed towards the cafeteria entrance.
The students immediately went for the doors, curious to see the interior. Woohyun grabbed Sunggyu by the elbow and dragged him along. Sungyeol, on the other hand, couldn't seem to move his feet. Not a fan of big crowds, Sungyeol had always found it just a little bit difficult being in the middle of one, and therefore preferred waiting outside. Apparently he wasn't the only one, for a couple of other girls and some boys were doing the same, lingering by the entrance without actually going inside. Some of the girls were giving Myungsoo longing gazes, which the older didn't seem to notice at all. In fact, Myungsoo was - to Sungyeol's great surprise - looking straight at him. And without a moment's hesitation, the black-haired boy walked over to where Sungyeol was standing.
"The lost sheep managed to not get lost this time, I see," he said with a smirk.
"Lost sheep..?" Sungyeol repeated, momentarily taken aback.
"Yeah, you," Myungsoo affirmed, pointing at Sungyeol's nose.
"I'm not a sheep," Sungyeol mumbled, somehow feeling embarrassed.
"You sure look like one with your curly hair," the older replied.
"It's not curly, it's wavy!" Sungyeol blurted, feeling more and more like this conversation was going in the wrong direction.
"Whatever you say, hoobae," Myungsoo allowed.
Sungyeol looked at the older, suddenly feeling like he was being played with.
"Sungyeol!" It was Woohyun, walking towards them with Sunggyu following behind. "Why didn't you come inside?" He suddenly stopped in his tracks as he spotted Myungsoo. "Do you know each other?"
"No," Sungyeol said, at the same time that Myungsoo said "Yes".
Woohyun looked confusedly from one to the other.
"I asked for directions this morning," Sungyeol hastily explained. "Myungsoo sunbae showed me the way to the economy building."
"Aah, I see," Woohyun nodded with a smile. "Just as I expected. A kind and helping sunbae."
Myungsoo gave a tiny smile before turning to the continuously increasing crowd that was forming around him. "Okay everyone, let's head to the next location; the place where you can get your morning coffee."
And with that, Myungsoo was again on the move, the crowd following close behind.
Staying in the back of the crowd with Woohyun and Sunggyu by his side, Sungyeol couldn't help but feel slightly put off by the whole situation.
Author's Note: Hey guys! Another chapter for you! ^^ I'm really having fun writing this, and though it's not super good or anything, I hope you all like it ^^ Giving Myungsoo this kind of character is a first for me, so it feels quite weird but at the same time fun to write haha
