Failures and Pasts
On Different WorldsThe café Jeongyeon was in looked pretty decent. It wasn’t a well-known place, judging by the looks of how lax the atmosphere was. She figured that it was a good thing, since now she can hopefully do her work in peace.
She had an article due in the next 24 hours about a new photographer slowly being known to people in their city. Jeongyeon knew a lot about her just from a small interview but it couldn’t work out because her mind just wasn’t inspired enough to write something.
As Jeongyeon typed words on the worn-out keys of her old laptop, she couldn’t notice the bickering of the angel and the demon over her shoulders.
Literally.
“Im Nayeon, I swear – “
“Swear to God?” Nayeon cuts Jihyo off, a sly smirk playing against her lips.
“What? No! I’d never do that!” Jihyo was flabbergasted for a moment, almost tripping over her own words. “But I do swear on the Angel’s Oath that if you lay a hand on this girl, I would not hesitate to use that on you.” Jihyo threatens, although the warning wouldn’t come off as intimidating – the girl was just too soft for that.
“Oh no!” Nayeon teases, sarcasm dripping from her voice. “Not that! Anything but that!” Nayeon plays around, taking a step closer towards Jihyo who was rolling her eyes at Nayeon’s antics. “It’s been centuries and you’re still mad at me?”
“Shut up.” Jihyo mutters, her hand holding onto a clueless Jeongyeon’s shoulder. The two were currently hidden from the humans in terms of everything – their voices, their appearances; basically everything was invisible to them. “Don’t lay a single finger on this girl.” Jihyo glares at Nayeon, who only gives her a wink in return.
“Watch me.”
In that instant, Nayeon disguised herself as human. She approached Jeongyeon and tapped her shoulder, flashing the human her most charming smile. Jihyo was tempted to disguise herself as a human at this point too, however she thought about the ruckus they could cause in the café if she provoked Nayeon even further.
“Hi,” Nayeon starts, smoothly taking the seat next to Jeongyeon. “Mind if I sit here?”
Jeongyeon half-heartedly glares at the stranger before her. She clicks her tongue and stares at Nayeon, obviously in a bad mood because of her frustrating deadlines. “The café’s empty. You don’t have to sit here.” Her words came off harsh as she looked at Nayeon from head to toe.
“You caught my eye,” Nayeon smiles
