Walking in the streets of Seoul, under the gloomy clouds that seemed to set just the right mood. There was Park Sooyoung and Bae Joohyun, arms linked to each other, enjoying the comfortable silence they both shared as the cold air hit their skin, that caused them to engage more skinship as they craved for more warmth.

Relationships, how are they formed? Through communication, right? By talking, sharing, expressing, and all that stuff that required actual words being said. It's essential in a relationship, as some would say. Which may be why some relationships do not work out, because they lacked of the talking, of the sharing, and the silence just stressed them.

But in Sooyoung and Joohyun's case, it was the other way around. They found each other more in the silence, they didn't need to use actual words. Sometimes, it just took one look and they would both understand.

But hey, Sooyoung likes to think it's just like that because they aren't really in that kind of relationship, so maybe that's why they didn't need to communicate in that way.

They're in a maybe-not, maybe-they are kind of relationship, neither of them really knew the exact label.

Sooyoung's aware that in some of the silence, she may not have accurately understood what Joohyun wanted to really tell her. She saw love in Joohyun's eyes, so she would often get lost, sometimes confused. Given that fact, it was completely a guarantee that she may have gotten the wrong idea on some things. I mean, she liked her in a romantic way, and everytime, it was so easy to get lost in the older's eyes, as if hypnotizing her.

She wondered what Joohyun saw in her eyes, how could she truly understand if both of them may have different perceptions of each other? Sooyoung for a loved one, and Joohyun for what? Just what was her to Joohyun?

Maybe the silence also stressed Sooyoung.

But it didn't matter, she accepts the way things are between them and she accepts the way Joohyun is.

“Where do you want to go, unnie?”

Joohyun looked up at her and Sooyoung felt shivers down her spine as their eyes met. Joohyun always made her feel the most magical things on her body. She doesn't know how she does it, really. Joohyun smiled and Sooyoung couldn't help but to smile back when she saw the older's eyesmile.

“Home?” Sooyoung asked and Joohyun nodded.

x

“Joohyun-ah, would you want some ramen?” Sooyoung half-yelled so her voice would reach the bedroom where Joohyun was. She heard soft foot steps coming towards the kitchen and soon saw a small figure looking at her with sparkling eyes.

Oh, she knew that look. Joohyun was hungry.

Sooyoung chuckled, “Okay, okay. This won't be too long, alright?”

There was dead silence again so she guessed Joohyun went back to her room already. She hummed while preparing the food, Sooyoung always loved to have some music.

Suddenly, she felt arms wrap around her waist, she stopped humming because of the surprise it brought her. Her breath hitched and her heart beated rapidly, she felt warmth embracing her. Joohyun rarely gave her hugs, let alone backhugs, and when she did, it always felt magical for Sooyoung.

She knew this was Joohyun's way of telling her that she's thankful, so she tried to smile her flutteredness away and softly replied, “You're welcome, unnie.”

x

They were comfortably in the sofa as they watched a movie, the ramen Sooyoung prepared for each of them firmly in hand, gradually eating it while watching the movie.

They were watching Ain't Them Bodies Saints, it was one of Joohyun's favorite movies. It had this indie-feel and the romance between the characters, how they fought for their relationship, she just adored that. Sooyoung could see it in her eyes. It was adorable, really. Sooyoung couldn't help but smile as she brought her attention back to the movie.

She remembers that this movie didn't end so well, Sooyoung's smile unconsciously falters.

Didn't end so well..

Sooyoung takes a mouthful of her ramen.

x

“How are things at home?”

Sooyoung knows that she shouldn't have asked, because maybe Joohyun didn't want to talk about that right now. The change of her facial expression was enough to prove it. But she did and she can't do anything to take back what she just asked.

Joohyun briefly shakes her head sideways.

“Unnie, I'm sorry. I just wanted to know. I mean, you visiting Seoul — visiting me, after such along time, I want to know why. Did something happen? Are you okay?”

Joohyun sighed. She stood up and searched for a notepad and a pencil. Sooyoung reached for her notepad and pencil on her desk, knowing it was what Joohyun was searching for.

“Here, unnie.” Joohyun took the notepad and pencil from Sooyoung, she sat beside her again and started writing on the notepad.

Sooyoung sat still and watched Joohyun as she focused on writing.

Oh, how beautiful.

Watching Joohyun as she wrote, Sooyoung never knew it could be this enchanting. How could someone possibly be this beautiful while just writing?? Joohyun looked so peaceful, and beautiful, she was just glowing, it was just like watching a goddess. Did she mention how beautiful Joohyun was?

Sooyoung came back to reality when Joohyun met her gaze as she felt something nudge her arm. She looked down and saw the notepad already filled with words.

She gently took the notepad from Joohyun, took a deep breath and started reading it.

Sooyoung-ah, you know how I'm always grateful to have such a friend, as precious and caring as you. Which why I feel sorry whenever I can't have the time to visit you. Things have not been so well at home lately... Eomma has been hospitalized and Appa has been stressing over it and of course me as well.. But I convinced Appa to visit you and tell you about Eomma, which is why I'm here right now.. I feel terrible that I finally got to visit you but only with this reason, and with this news... I'm so sorry, Sooyoung...

Sooyoung raises her head and looks at Joohyun almost immediately after she finished reading.

“Oh my God, unnie. Don't be sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.”

Sooyoung envelops the older into a hug and just then, Joohyun bursts into tears, like she's been holding it back God knows since when.

x

“You didn't have to do this, you know.”

Joohyun her head to the side and gives Sooyoung a questioning look.

“I mean, you didn't have to go all the way from Daegu to Seoul, to come visit me and tell me this news. You could've just texted me, you know.”

Joohyun frowns and looks away.

“Hey,” Sooyoung approaches Joohyun with a sly smile on her face then she holds the latter's chin up, her other hand placed on Joohyun's waist. Sooyoung then looks directly at her eyes, “I don't mean that I don't want to see you, I don't mean that I don't care about your family either. I just mean that your mom's more important than me, and she needs you to be there to look after her.”

Joohyun sighs, she steps back. Her sight disappears on Sooyoung's eyes and not too soon comes back carrying the same notepad and pencil she used last night.

Sooyoung, still standing on the same spot, waits for the older to finish writing. Joohyun approaches her and hands her the notepad.

I know, but everything has just been very stressful, I thought you had to know. Also... seeing you gives me a lot of strength, and you know that I need it most right now. Besides, I've been wanti

That ending was just perfect ^_^, everything about this story was so well done and I loved characters so much. Irene maybe silent most of the time but when she speaks it just melts your heart and I’m so grateful that we got a happy ending, when this could have gone in very different direction. So thank you very much ^_^, I look forward to reading more stories in the future.
