Today has just become a definitely weird day.

If weird meant that a CEO of a big entertainment agency announces that the popular female idol rookies are finally coming back after a hiatus of over ten months.

“We’re coming back!!!” Lisa shrieks in excitement, clinging on Jennie’s back forcing the latter to carry the maknae.

“Well ing finally,” Jennie said in a deriding tone yet her smiley expression fails to concede how happy she is with the news.

“I can’t believe our comeback has a date already!” Jisoo jumps in the happy fest, making her sing randomly as usual. “My favorite day from now on is May—”

“Yes!” Rosé, the girl who’s in her own world again, exclaims, making the three girls stop in their tracks, their voices and happy virus stolen from within them. But she doesn’t notice nor do the girls get a chance to ask on what was that about when Rosé enters her room, deaf and blinded from everything else.

“Yes, yes, yes!” Rosé continues to say as she jumps in her bed in euphoria, her long pale legs kicking the mattress so hard it was as if she was competing in a swimming tournament.

Yes, just like the other girls, Rosé is unworldly happy with the news their chairman said to them today.

But for different reasons.

Yeah sure Rosé is glad that they’re finally having a comeback, and an album, an official light stick and a concert tour with that, but those aren’t the icing on the cake.

It’s the fact that she’ll have the perfect excuse to bail.

It was last night when the moment she has been dreading happened.

Rosé’s heart flew out of her chest and has gone deranged, beating wildly like a caged animal who can no longer wait to be freed.

“Calm down simjang, calm down,” she says in between harsh breaths, holding her chest tightly to calm the erratic beating of her heart.

She was scared, nervous and totally freaked out.

Why does he suddenly want to meet up? Why, when they’ve been doing so well as friends, maybe even as soul mates, without having to give each other a name or a face?

Rosé wanted to argue that it was so sudden, but who was she kidding. It’s been two years; it’s natural to want to know how the person you’ve been communicating to looks like, especially if it’s secrets that you’ve been sharing to each other.

But that’s what’s scaring Rosé, she’s a celebrity after all.

What if he makes a run to a news outlet when he learns that it’s BlackPink’s Rosé all along?

Worse, what if he never talks to her again, scared that she’ll accidentally expose his private life?

Rosé was terrified of the changes this could bring to their now-perfect relationship. But she knows it’d be terrible of her to pull out without any good reason. So thank God when Yang Hyun Suk finally came around and gave them a breakdown of their comeback promotion schedule.

“What are you watching?” Rosé asks Lisa whose eyes are glued on her phone, sitting with her long legs crossed on the wooden floor.

The girls are just having a break from their dance practice for their nearing comeback. They’ve been going at it since early in the morning that Jisoo couldn’t hold her hunger anymore and went out to order chicken and pizza, thanking the heavens that they don’t have any restrictions when it comes to eating. Jennie went out also to buy everyone refreshments while Rosé just came back to the room from last-minute recording.

“V-Live,” the usually bubbly maknae answered nonchalantly. Yes, Lisa’s as cheerful as she appears in broadcasts, but not when she is on her binge-watch mode.

“Of who?” Rosé knows she shouldn’t as they always have a petty fight over this when Lisa’s focused on her phone and she on purposely disturbs her still, but she just can’t help but wonder as the voice coming out from Lisa’s phone speakers wasn’t a familiar voice. And it surely wasn’t a girl.

“Jungkook-ssi of BTS.”

Rosé nods to this information. Weird, she thought as she has never seen them interact in their two years of career so the possibility of them knowing each other as friends was quite far from possible. But hey, Lisa’s a social butterfly so who knows.

Thinking they must probably have become friends in some way or another, Rosé decides to tease Lisa instead, “Does Minggyu know?”

“They’re friends,” the younger girl rolls her eyes, clearly getting her friend’s intention.

“Ok, but does your boyfriend know you’re watching his friend’s solo V-live?” Rosé continues, just because it’s fun. “Does he know your ogling at a different guy, his very dear friend? The one you have a popular ship with—”

“He knows I’m a fan of BTS okay and we’ve talked about all that needs to be talked about, so just shut up and watch beside me or go away you malicious girl.” Lisa glares at her friend making the latter sit timidly beside her, but with a little satisfied smirk.

“Any musical instrument that you're learning? Piano! I don't have much time and can't take a class. Now we need to prepare for our comeback. I'm taking a class with my tutor.”

Rosé couldn’t help but be amazed by the male singer. He is undoubtedly one of the busiest stars in-and-out Korea yet he still finds time to learn new things, playing the piano at that!

Truthfully, she doesn’t know much about BTS as she’s still very westernized in her taste in music and entertainment, just that they’re so popular all over the world that they’re highly demanded on American variety shows and awarding ceremonies. But aside from that, she gets confused still on how many members there are, let alone memorizing and getting their names right.

“What lip balm do you use?” the idol reads the comment. He then picks up the lip item and read the name on its packaging, “Sugar...sugar...Fresh sugar.”

What a coincidence, Rosé thought as she remembers her friend telling her just recently that he’s been trying out different cosmetic products and that exact Fresh Sugar lip balm was one of them. He said it was for work which made Rosé naturally think that he’s working in the cosmetics industry, probably a marketer or something like that.

The awards show season has finally come, and thank God BlackPink’s invited to almost all of it again unlike in 2017 when they only had a single bop and several shows didn’t think it was worth listening to songs from the year before. But since they had several comebacks this year, releasing national hits each time they do, every K-pop fan, blink or not, predicts that they’ll be winning at least one daesang this time.

“Beulping unnies!” the little girl yelled, oblivious of the eyes of the other idols around them. “Sit with us, the staff said so!”

Snaps.

Flashes.

Clicks.

Cameras start to zoom in and take photos fiercely once the two girl groups from two of the biggest rival companies greet each other warmly and sit in the same table, as if anti-fans and netizens don’t pit them against each other.

Jennie immediately clings to Irene, proving her Jendeukie nickname. Seulgi grabs Jisoo and the two immediately jokes around with the latter teaching the other how to balance a water bottle near the elbow this time. Lisa takes the seat beside Wendy, taking the opportunity to get to know each other more. While Rosé is forced to inhale the warmth of Yeri as the younger girl didn’t waste any time in hugging her favourite BlackPink unnie. Thank God Joy is at backstage preparing to announce the next award or it would have been an immediate tiring night for Rosé when Yeri and Joy bickers on who gets to sit beside Rosé.

“Yeri-ah,” Rosé pats the Red Velvet’s maknae endearingly. “It’s been a while, I really missed you.”

“Of course you do! It’s because unnie has become busy appearing in every possible show!” Yeri pouts.

“But that’s a good thing, right?” Rosé smiles knowingly at her, “You’re happy for us right?”

“Of course, I’m happy you guys get to promote so much this time because look at you, you’re obviously happier this time.”

“Thank you Yeri-ah—”

“You’re so blooming one would think you’re actually dating. Unnie!” The girl beside her suddenly exclaims. “How about Jaehyun-oppa? He’s really kind, good-looking and I think your height would match—”

“Yeri, I told you already, I can’t.” Rosé has a dating ban after all. Not only that, but she’s just at the peak of her career; she isn’t willing any time soon to just drop everything she’s worked hard for years and disappointing the people who love her the most: her family, band mates and fans.

“Seriously unnie, are you really still following that stupid dating ban?”

But instead of being insulted, Rosé just chuckles as she finds Yeri’s reaction really cute. “It’s not stupid and it’s just my contract. You should try following yours too you know.”

Yeri decides to ignore Rosé’s last statement and retorts instead, “Well that didn’t stop Jisoo-unnie from dating Jinyoung-ssi, or did it?”

“Yeri!” Immediately, Rosé glances at the other tables, making sure no one heard that slip of the tongue. Fortunately, there seems to be none although Jungkook-ssi of BTS from the table beside them looks a little suspicious with his eyes a little too weary, not to mention his sudden drumming of bottles.

But Rosé shakes the thought of it as she is probably just overthinking this again. After all, why would such a big shot care about their conversation anyway? He’s way too attractive and famous already, he could care less about two female idols’ silly chitchat. He’s probably more interested in dating insanely hot celebrities from Hollywood. Not that Rosé's interested in his dating life...
